Unhappy Smoking Motor

I Stacked My Helion Criterion 10B Recently, And Heres What Happened In Order:

Loud Clicking Noise
Wheels Not Moving, But Motor Was
Pieces Of Spur Gear/Shavings
Smoking Motor, And Sounds Terrible

What Do I Fix/Replace? Do I Get A New Helion? What Wrong With It?

Im New To This Hobby, So Please Help Me!

Question: Did the car move or run before the clicking sound? How long did you let the motor run and destroy the spur gear that the motor was smoking?

A good rule to live by in RC is, if something sounds funny, something is wrong and you should stop immediately and assess what is making the sound....before something gets damaged.

I would guess that your motor mount screws came loose. (Forget to loktite them?) That destroyed the spur gear, and probably allowed the motor to over rev for too long, and it over heated.

So you say the motor doesn't sound good now? What's it sound like?

"Stacked"? That means what?I don't think I've heard that term in RC.

Brushed motor with closed/sealed end-bell...hard to see what's inside the thing. If continuing to run brushed motors, I'd get one that is open end bell to be able to replace brushes and take apart/inspect the guts of the motor.

Replace the stripped gears and any other parts that don't look so hot. Get back out there.

Interesting. You use Loctite on your motor screws?

I have seen other people doing that too but always thought it's better to be able to reset your mesh after a run of a new spur since i destroy them too often lol
