Default Best wheels and tires for my VXL Bandit?

My Bandit has all Rustler suspension and 17mm hub adapters. It has a full compliment of 1/8 scale road tires courtesy of the previous owner but I would like to run this on the local dirt track. I have been looking at 4wd buggy tires and wheels like the set for the thunder tiger bushmaster. Are all 1/8 scale biggy tires the same o.d.?

What you see on the 1/8 scale Thunder Tiger desert buggy are short course tires. They are 2.2/3.0 tires. That tread pattern came out, I think, when the SC10 hit the shelves. You may find them cheap on eBay as they are of medium compound. For a rear wheel drive RC = not good traction at all. They are fine for the front if you what a long lasting tread. I use them on a couple of my SCTs for that long lasting purpose on loose dirt. If the track is outdoor loose stuff, and you will be track bashing, then have a look at something with a small block/pin tread.

And you will need SC (short course) wheels with 17mm hexes...there are only a few choices out there. Or, you could go back to 12mm hexes and run regular 2.2/3.0 SC wheels also. SC and 1/8 buggy tires are very similar in size. Only a couple of millimeters difference depending on the tread design. The sidewall on a SC tire is greater than that of a 1/8 buggy tire...gives a more realistic scale look to them.
