I had to amuse myself, and I looked at the RC in question. Very little adjustment with that RC. Motor mounting plate only allows motor to be in one position. Not able to change pinion gear tooth count without modifying the motor plate. That makes suggesting a brushless motor difficult.

What batteries are you using now? What were the temps like before?

If your goal is to go faster with your RC than you will need to know the RPM of the motor you have now. If you throw a more powerful brushless motor in your RC, then you would have to compensate a bit with a smaller pinion gear...and that is where the problem begins. Finding the right size motor, right amount of "Kv", finding right pitch of pinion gears is just the start of it all. After that, it would be easy to dremel out a slot on the motor plate to allow adjustment of gear mesh. Is there any room to allow the motor to be moved? I don't know.

It's fun to modify things. I just wanted to paint a little picture of what could happen in your situation with your particular RC.

Is there a brushless version of the GOBI? That would be a little easier calculation of parts needed.

Speaking of parts. You also know that you will need a brushless ESC. Right? To go along with new ESC, you would more than likely need a new radio system. Why? The current ESC/receiver is one unit.

Good luck.
