Default Imax B6 chargers any good?

I've been seeing these Imax B6 chargers on ebay for really cheap. They are brand new for like $20 or less. Are they any good, or are they total junk. I need something to charge 7.2v 5000mAh NiMh packs. Thanks.

One reason for the low price is that many of them are fakes. Not bootleg, fake. There is a vid on u-toob that shows how to spot a phony. Not hard to do. Most ebay sellers will state that the charger is a genuine Flysky imax b6. I use two simultaneously for my two batteries. [4s]. They work just fine, voltage readings are accurate. One thing is that they dont measure internal resistance [correction, they do]. Just be sure you get a real one and it will work fine.

So when you say that the really cheap ones are fake, does that mean that they don't work?

The B6V2 chargers do measure internal resistance .

My understanding is the fake ones do work. In the utoob vid he shows the obvious lower quality in the fakes.

I will have to read up and see how to read the ir, thanx

Normally, when you find them for under $20, they are DC only and will need a power supply.

And why are there so many fakes/copies of the SkyRC iMax B6 charger? It is a great charger for what it is. If you start going to higher capacity 3S packs, or more cells, then a more powerful charger will be needed.

I have the b6 acdc version, runs off mains or 12v (car battery when you're out and about). Works great so far, no issues after a few months use. It's the black one, not the blue coloured one.

Great Video Paul Myers! Never knew they could be calibrated! I have been using these chargers for 10+ years. I never knew the differences between the two, or that one was even fake. Just realized there were differences and just thought it had to do with up grades from the company manufacture. I have had a couple of them fail, and for $20, threw them out and bought another one. Just blamed the failure on cheap Chinese quality control. I currently have one real one and 3 fake ones that I have been using for a couple years now. I only charge 2S and 3S and never charge at a rate greater than 1.0 amp. Maybe with a higher charge rate and stronger batteries, there would be an issue with it. I have found no issues until the other day. A friend of mine needed to charge some batteries. My chargers worked, but his more sensitive battery charger didn't work on those batteries. Not sure what to say there, other then we did look at the balance of those batteries more closely for issues. For me, the fakes work just as well as the real ones. But, GREAT video Paul!
