Default Need help picking out an RC car for my boys

My oldest just turned 12 and enjoys RC cars, he has a few of the cheaper entry entry entry level ones(read $40 amazon cars). I have a rustler, from when I was a kid(1999), thatís missing a body, controller, battery, body clips, stub axel pin, that hasnít been ran in at least 15 years(so not worth getting back together). I enjoyed that car a lot and would like to get him something along those same lines.

Iím looking for something easier to drive than a top heavy truck, no need for great speed yet, lower end on pricing in case his interest dies down, and because we are in Canada, something that will do well in snow. I donít have any particular brand loyalty and parts availability at a local hobby store is a non issue for me, since Iím in the middle of nowhere and Iíll end up buying any replacement parts online.

What has caught my eye so far is another rustler, a stampede, granite, things in that general style. 1:10 or so, wide wheel base. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Traxis Stampede you can buy in at what ever level you think the boys are capable of and you can keep upgrading as their skill improves. I also live in Canada and I set my nephew up with this unit and after 5 years and a few upgrades he still runs it and is happy with the upgraded performance. One of the most plentiful parts available on the market today. The monster trucks are the only ones that will give the ground clearance and tire foot print to handle snow.
