RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
ok no worries
no i dont think the car is worth that much but he has spent a bit of money on it and like anyone he wont want to loose to much
i have seen these cars get 150 but that was a about 4 years ago and that was with a lot of hop-ups and 12mm wheel hex's
like i have so you can use standard size wheels

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
I did pick that one because it looked very similar and looked like everything would fit.....luckily it all fits and works, and no more ghost driver
I totally agree with you that Bycmo isn't exactly world wide know like Tamiya HPi etc.
I'd like to do the hub 12mm hex like you have done.
Do you find that your resistor gets realy hot? do you think it's a good idea to give it a break after say, 10mins?
You also use the car when it's damp/wet, is it ok to do that ?
So blooming pleased it's fixed now anyway.

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
hi ian
glad to hear your car is sorted now
the 12mm hex hubs i have came off a hpi i had left after i sold it
there are some on ebay that you place on it and then screw down
that was the the route i was going to go down untill i found the hpi ones
yes my resistor does get hot and yes its a good idea to let it cool down after you have used it
yes you can use your car in the wet but dont go through any large puddels and after any use in the wet just make sure there is no water around the electrics if so dry it asap you may find that running in damp or wet conditions is very hard i have a full set of wet tyres on mine and when its wet or damp there is no grip that being said i do have a 600 motor instead of the standard 540
has your car been upgraded to the ball bearings or is it still on the plastic ones ?

So you must have the white cogs?
Mine has got the white cogs and the lad has got the standard black cogs, would like to uprate his to white cogs at some point.
Yes Dus, they both have the proper bearings and the hydraulic shocks.
Will look at a 600 motor.
Need a decent charger, mine is currently 4 hours.
So these higher power battery packs last longer? or just give a lot more power?
Post a pic of yours Dus, what shells / shell have you got?

I can see the hub difference looks like a great idea, will have to do that.
I see the Subaru shell is wider, is it from a nitro? was thinking similar so you get the wide arch look.
Nice collection there Dus.
So you can get the lorry shell to fit on the same base?

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
hi ian
the hex hubs came off a nikko 1/10th scale car that i got for spares i just drilled out the s by hand untill they fit
the good thing about the 12mm hex hubs is you can change the wheels when you change the body shells
so you get the same chassis but a different look
if your looking for new body shells for the bycmo car they are 190mm,
you should be abel to get them from a good model shop or ebay painted or unpainted,
unpainted would be best as you can line the chassis and the shell up before you drill it
other wise its a lot of is this right is this right does it look right is it centred right
then when you finaly drill it your wondering if its in the right place
the subaru shell is just a normal 200mm hpi shell it could be used for a nitro or electric car
the only problem is it has to centred perfect
if not it will look like its lop sided the wheels will be seen on one side and there will be a large wheel arch gap on the otherside
the truck shell is a old yokomo shell that is no longer available
it cost me £40 and as stupid as i was i bought two of them both for nitro cars that dont get used anymore

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
So what's needed to do the whole 12mm conversion? everything needed.
Have you thought about fitting the locked diff?
It makes it like having a limited slip diff so both wheels are locked, I find you get a lot better traction and easier to control.
Have you got the uprated cogs so it goes faster?
Would be much more fun painting the shel and putting the stickers on rather than getting one ready painted etc.
Have been browsing about for some better shells.
I did buy some drift tyres recently but haven't got round to testing them yet.
When I get any new shells, I'll post the pics up.
Ahh, think I have got an old Nikko buggy in the shed, for the hubs.

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
hi ian
for the conversion you will need
4 12mm hex hubs see ebay item number 260441966829
you will also need some wheels that you like and a drill bit
if you dont want to do the drilling you could always use ebay item number 270497892749
you will need to use the old shafts and old pins that are still on the car
(if you have a old nikko buggy it has to be one that you can remove the wheels like the bycmo with a nut and not a screw)
i wont do any thing with my diff untill it breakes but i think it will be a very long time before it does that
it is still the original one that came with the car and it still works as it did when i first built it
yes i have all the upgrades gears bearings suspention and my own personal favorite upgrade a bigger motor
the only problem with the bigger motor is with either wet tires or off road tires the car acts like a drift car
and on a dry road its fast and grippy
i agree with you on the shells its so much better to paint your own as you can make your own designs and own colours hence the pink subaru and tvr
i cant ever subaru painting a car pink with the yellow rally art decals
at one point i had spent over £300 on bodyshells alone and then threw them away most were unused just because i got boared looking at the same bodyshells
there always on ebay just depends on what car design you want
hope that helps

No way you binned them, should have sold them.
Right now we have got a 4 hour charger, need something better, what would you recommend dus?
Do you have rechargables in the handset or just normal ones?

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
Cheers for item numbers.
Have got 2 chargers, one has got this:
AC/DC Adaptor
class 2 transformer
input: 220v-50Hz
output: 7.2v 500mA
D41-12-250
Other one:
AC Adaptor
model: AD-0900200BS
input 240v-50Hz 5w
output: 9v 200mA 1.8VA
EDIT: I think the top one is a fairly fast one, is that right?
You mentioned chargers on page 11 but the item numbers have gone now.

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
hi ian
yes i just binned them they were all drilled for my cars and it was/is getting hard to find people who still have a bycmo car
as for a charger i would go for a fast charger 30mins i will have a look on ebay and find you one and post the number later
my batteries in my transmitters are rechargables that way when they go flat i just plug a charging jack in and leave them until they are charged (the better half hates all my transmitters being out on charge) as every car, truck and off roader has its own transmitter set up for that car some people like every vechile they have to be set up on one transmitter but if someone wants ago with mine they just pick a vechile and the right transmitter

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
That's realy cool that you have a girl with an interest
Am gonna get a charger that'll plug into the Bycmo handset then...got 8 chargables in one handset and 8 normal in sons one.
Have been using a standard charger that can only charge 4 at once and takes about 10 hours,
Just a Uniross thingy.
