RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
I'm yet to discover how things break then. Hopefully it wont break all the time.On the Rush thread they appear to be fairly reliable.
Spare parts getting harder was mentioned, hopefully the parts are still availible somewhere or another.
TBH I've not been to a pub for a while, sooner get a few tins or a vodka and Coke etc.
Got to get this working before even thinking about tuning it
I'm glad it didn't work, because I have had time to get info from you and this website.
If it did work straight away there would have been no reading and gathering info and would probably have done something to wreck it.
I have got 3 quick questions actuallyThe Rush thread is like a tumble weed crossing the street
1) What fuel filter would you buy? http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.ph...ng=fuel+filter
2) the wheels don't turn together .. is this the compression from the engine?
3) The wheels don't turn if you spin the 56T spur cog.
4) The diff works as you turn either wheel and the other turns opposite.
Whoops that was 4.
Have fitted the new spur cog with the new stick on clutch part on the inside and removed old bolts with a center punch and now moved the motor over to meet the new spur cog.
Also set the clutch up by the hpi instructions.

hi ian
its a good idea to research as much as you can on you car so if something goes wrong you will know how to fix it
if something breakes you can say i need part number and then order it so its not to long before your out with it again
A1 i would buy this filter
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.ph...on&ItemID=1771
1 because its cheap 2 because i have one on my kyosho but they all do the same job
A2 as far as i know no the wheels should turn freely together have a look at the break
if thats not it remove the engine and try again
A3 & A4 can you push the car on a flat surface and does it roll, skid or stop straight a way
look at the underside of the chassis there should be a cut out near the engine you should be able to see the fly wheel
move it one way it will move/spin freely the other way the wheels should move

Thanks.
I think the brake must be jammed on then as loosened the spur 56T cog right off and the wheels still don't move at all.
Will have a look at the link for fuel filter tomorrow as net is very crap right now and it's taken ages to get the reply box for this post..so snap on the computer front.
How the heck does the brake work
With the flywheel turned and you can hear the compression noise like when you pull the pull start.
Do you think I should try and start it with the spur cog off just to check the motor first?

Have been having a good look through the hpi manual and as soon as I get more paper I'll print it off and staple it together.

hi ian
the break works when you pull back on the transmitter as the car has no reverse
but if the break has been tightened to much that will stop the wheels from turning
there should be a link from the servo to the carb and from the same servo to a break disc and pads
if you send me a photo of the car from a top view i will try and see whats what

Starter kit arrived
On charge now.
Have removed 56T spur cog and wheels still don't turn so....brakes jammed on?
As mentioned, they wont turn together at the same time.
Will be attempting to fire it up soon.
EDIT: Sorry Dus, didn't see your last post ^^

Ok Dus mate,
Will take a pic,
The wheels turn if you do one on it's own and other turns opposite... sorry , repeating my self.
They wont turn together at all, even without the spur 56T fitted.
Will sort pic out.

I know you help as much as you can..
I'm going to try and start it without the 56T fitted.
Will let you know how it goes....must be a brake problem though I think.
Have no idea how the brake works, did look throughthe word doc on hpi.
At least then we know engine works ok.

I know that this part is covered on the hpi links you posted, I'll have a good look and try to figure it out.
The wheels moving together, well there is still a lot of resistance.#
with the spur removed and the parts from the flywheel missing like the pic ^^^

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
hi ian
thats the clutch and clutch bell housing that has come off
there should be a screw that goes through the end of the housing
in to the end of the engine
there should be 2 pins sticking out of the the flywheel
the springs go in the middle of the clutch shoes and the clutch gors on the pins
then the housing goes over that and then you need to thread lock the screw in place
it looks like you will need new clutch springs
no the glow start stays cold and only the glow plug should get hot when the glow start is placed over the glow plug
take the glow plug out and and place it onto the glow starter but watch the wire in the plug if it works it will glow and get very hot
if there is no glow then you will need a new glow plug

Unblocked...dunno what happened there, not even been on since yesterday.
Yep, get your nitro out
Try and get a small video, I'll try and get one of mine when it starts
I can tell this is going to be a learning process like the bycmo

RE: Subaru Impreza WRC 1/10 Bycmo
Well a bit of both realy, wanted to start it up yesterday and was a bit dissapointed.
How do you tell if the glow plug and starter are working?
Did give it 10 hours charge and put the chearger into the end of the glow starter and it clicked in..is that right?
Didn't feel the battery getting warm.
I surpose realy with this sort of stuff you have to learn or you'll be taking it to the repair shop every 5 minutes [sm=lol.gif]

Erm, I don't know, can you see it then?
How much resistance should you get turning both rear wheels together with the 56T spur gear done up with the spring?
If the brakes were jammed on would the wheels move togther at all?
Sorry for the questions.
Kind of reading things about it and getting confused..
Edit: you mean remove the glow plug and try?
Edit: the glow plug does glow.

hi ian
yes remove the glow plug and try it
you have done this so we know its not the glow plug
if the brakes are jammed then it will be hard to move the wheels together
but they will move freely in oppersite directions
when you filled the fuel tank did you prime the engine?
was there fuel getting to the carb?
do you have the fuel line from the bottom of the tank to the carb and one from the exhaust to the top of the fuel tank?
there should be another lug on the top of the tank that needs to be blocked off
