Sorry for late reply, been busy.

Vince, buy these to fit the normal 12mm hex wheels: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12mm-Drive...item4cf071e439

With the electric speed controller we ran these Tamiyas for ages, running an 18 turn motor at one point and it just ran till the battery went.
With the 18turn motor we did fit some extra heatsinks, never had any overheating probs.

Welcome to the site too

Tamiya:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tamiya-TEU...item53e80d9432

Try to get hold of the uprated white cogs instead of the black cogs, there is a major difference to top speed.

Yeah the old Beetles do rock, newer ones still cool realy.

Bycmo, well, been thinking about dusting ours off and having some fun with them when lad gets back.
Forgotten what they go like.....that's not good considering the fun and knowledge learnt from these cars.

Will try to get video and a few pics

I will have a look at those on ebay now mate.

Hi

I am still here...you do not get rid of me that easily!!
Thanks for the welcomes/hints/links.
Due to a shortage of funds this is going to be a slow ongoing projetct. So far the Bycmo has the rear springs upgraded to the oil filled, 3 of the four corners have the upgraded half shafts and metal bearings, the crown and pinion gears have been upgraded to the white ones and a Tunigy 30A esc has been fitted.
the other upgrade parts were missing so a new half shaft and pair of metal bearings and oil filled shocks for the front will probably be the next purchases. I have 7 wheels so the upgrade to the 12mm hex can wait a while

If anybody else comes across this thread looking for ideas on how to preserve or repair their diffs I have heard of two other tips.
1. Stuff the dif with elestic bands. This seems a little more reversible should somebody one day find replacement parts for the diff
2. Drill out the holes where the diff axles meet the plastic body and fit longer axles.

Not sure if either work but it may be worth a try by someone.

Vince

Only on here in mind not body...I left myslef logged in on my work pc over the weekend

By the way just used the Bycmo for the first time since fitting an ESC...what a difference in speed!!! Unfortunately no improvement in my driving it just meant I hit the kerb harder and faster than usual.

Hi Dus

It's a bit mix 'n' match at the moment. Three wheels have metal & 1 plastic. Going to order the others herehttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2508884516...84.m1423.l2649
