Anybody got any input on a better brushed moter for a stock XL-5? I have already burned up one Titan motor. Traxxas replaced it but I figured its just a matter of time before this one goes too by what i've read.

Yes, my son and I are running Trinity modified 15T double motors. That is the most this esc will handle.

How do they run? I think the Titan is pretty quick and has alot of torque, I'd like for it to have similar results with a different motor.

That is interesting. I guess I could drop down to a 12T. But I would need to be ready to go brushless if it fries the esc.
You have to be carefull. A quality 15T motor will pull more amps than a cheap 12T will.

Yes it will. My son and I both run 4000mah 2s lipo
these work great for Lipo low V alarm
There is a loud audible beep when the V gets low

FYI Lipo cutoffs don't work on blue XL-5s only the cheap $3 alarms do (seeing they don't touch the ESC)
The alarms work very well though so there should be no issue

yup the Alarm will work fine there actually pretty darn loud(and annoying), and alarm at 3.3-3.4volts per cell so even if you don't hear it immediately you should hear it before you dip into the danger zone of lipo voltage

the LVC won't work at all

I had them on my CEN ME16MT and they were great. Widened the foot print so it didn't roll.
1" is alot though. I think I had the 1/2"

I believe the stock gearing in the pede XL-5 is 19/86 and 48 pitch. What is the pitch and can it be changed? If so, what is the difference?

Hey Wheelnut, how would you say the trinity motors you run compare with the titan motors in speed and torque?

The Trinity motors are way better in torque and top end.

Cool, thanks. I just talked my brother-in-law into buying one for his pede. Burned up his titan. Got the Speed Gems Extreme 15 turn double. If it rocks i'll get one too.

The trinity 15T is too hot for the xl5. I used the Trinity Komodo 19T geared 17/90, and it still is better than the stock Titan in every way. I thought about going with a Trinity 17T, but am glad I didn't. Would be too hard to gear imo.

Pitch is the measure of the size of the teeth themselves, specifically how many teeth per inch. 48 is the most common. There's also 32 pitch, which is mostly found on nitros and old school vehicles, and 64 pitch as well. You can't change the pitch of just one gear, however if you found a proper gear pair you could use them together regardless of the pitch.

Got myself a Stampede today. Love my Tamiyas, but on the occasion that they do break, I hate waiting weeks for parts or finding out I can't find them anywhere and Tamiya is out of stock. It's just annoying. So I decided to get something with local parts support. I don't have a 2wd monster truck, unless you count the Lunch Box, so the 'pede seemed like a good choice.

Unfortunately, I broke it about 5 minutes into my first pack. [:@] Cartwheeled off a jump and snapped a steering block. Also bent the pin that holds it. [&o]

Fun truck though. Think I'll need a wheelie bar soon.

think you set a world record for how fast you could break a pede
I've seen vids on youtube where people purposely tried to break them by doing stupid jumps and failed

ha! I'm brutal on my RCs, that's why I have so many - so at least one is running at all times. I'm certainly not implying that it is a problem with the truck, in case anyone tries to get all defensive. My apartment complex dumped literally several tons of woodchips in the parking lot where I run my touring cars, so a bunch of us were bashing down there. Normally it's just flat out on-road mayhem there, but I took a sideways drop onto asphalt, of course that's gonna do some damage. [&:]

I know the pack was strong when I did hit, probably had another few minutes of runtime in it. If I'd expected to break it I would have set up a camera and stopwatch. [sm=lol.gif]

I looked up the parts online, I should get outta there under $6 with tax. That's cheaper than a 6 pack of beer, so I'm cool. My roommate burned up the Titan 12t in his Rustler, so I made out better than he did!
