RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
Hi, i have been reading this forums for a while and i can't seem to find the answer, so hopefully, someone can help me with this.
I have a xl5, and upgraded the tranny with all metal gears (idler, metal diff) I have to setups here to upgrade it and wondering which will be best choice.
setup 1: Mtroniks viper rv 11 esc with a lrp gt3 12x2 motor
setup 2: Tekmodel ezrun 35A esc v1.01 with a 3570kv ribbed brushless sensorless setup.
Also, my gearing at the moment is 19/90 what would be best gearing for each setup?
I have a grassed garden, and weekkends go to local bmx dirt track. Ideally wheelie on comand and decent top speed 40mph+, lol, maybe asking too much. Thanks guys.

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
Is this thread dead? man it is slow. Anyway I picked up a rustler vxl last week for my son and he was having too much fun so I got me a xl5 stampede today and I wanted to see how they compared so I did a speed run with the pede and the stock battery and man it only goes 22mph, is that the normal speed to be expected? Also I needed to move the wheels around original owner had them wrong and I noticed that the driver side rear wheel is tilted in and the axle points up a little. It looks like the grey bar that mounts to the ball joint thing is too short. Are the left and the right side different lengths?
Here is a pic of it

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
Yeah, I believe that's about it with a stock battery and a Titan brushed motor..... Time for a brushless system and lipos?
Sounds like you bought the Pede used? The tie rods are supposed to be the same length. The previous owner probably broke the rear plastic tie rod and didn't have anything to replace it but a front (shorter) one. Or one from another car (Rustler or something with shorter width). Who knows. Good luck and have fun with your son.....

@LoonyNino -Go with the BL setup m8 faster and cooler ive ran a 11t motor on a unlimited esc and heatwise i would avoid the brushless will run faster and smoother anyway
@OddsNEnds- seems like hes adjusted the camber for that rear wheel you should be able to adjust it level again.

If you look at the photo it is the stock plastic tie rods, no adjustment. But, a good set of adjustable Lundsford tie rods would be nice.....

My son and I are still rockin our XL5 Pedes with Feigao 9T motors and Turnigy 50amp escs. Runs very fast and very cool.
I think the new Pede 4X is way over priced.

Ok so it looks like just the one shock is hanging lower because the tie rods are the same length. What kind of oil can I put in my shocks? Do I have to use hobby shock oil or can I use auto gear oil or hydraulic fluid? Also wondering if there is repair manuals for these things I have a pede and a rustler now.

You really want to use the correct oil for the track you are running on or the correct oil for your driving style. Or just the set up you like. But you really need to use hobby shock oil to get the correct shock oil weight for your truck.
You can get the manuals for both trucks at www.traxxas.com

Ok, in that case I would get some Trinity 40wt oil for the front and rear. Unless someone else has a better idea. If you start doing some high jumps you would want to get a thicker oil.

Sleepy, good to hear your about to get her going again.
I need some help guys. I really want to get a Baja Beetle Bug body for my Pede. Does anyone know of one that will fit? Or can be modded a little to fit?
Here is one on my old E-Savage. Actually, it was the manufacture that had it before HPI bought it. Does anyone know who it was before HPI? good trivia question.
Here is a picture of it. I wish I didn't sell it. At least it was 4WD

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
After 4-5 years of bashing and just about replacing everything that was stock on the 'Pede, I finally broke the chassis. The part where the back clip attaches to. So for a while only the rear skid plate was holding things together. So I was looking for something that could hold a HK 5000 3S pack. I am trying to consolidate lipo packs. One kind that will fit all. Including my BL E-Revo and my newest vehicle the "Pede 4X4. So now when next year comes I can order fresh packs of one kind and not have to monkey around of finding a certain size pack for the standard 'Pede chassis. If you are wondering about the 4X4 spacing, I drilled 2 slots in the chassis for a strap and stand the pack on the hight side of the pack. 5000 packs are just a tad too wide and the wires get in the way for laying the pack down flat.
A few pixs of a Integy LCG Chassis for 2 WD 'Pedes. Only things left stock are: The push rods and body posts and finally the gear cover. The stock bearings were still in good shape after years of beating them up. So while I had the truck apart I treated them to a good greasing. Using a tool called the "The Greaser" And some high speed motor bearing grease.

well, first upgrade i'm gonna do is an esc. this 1st gen pede has the old school mechanical speed control unit, and it works good lol.

Also try and upgrade the 5x8 bushing in the truck to 5x11x4 bearings (you will also need the current version front and rear hubs to do this)

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
Here's my Stampede so far. Started out with the original mechanical speed control, switched to the yellow xl-5 esc. Put VXL axle carriers with 5x11x4 teflon sealed bearings, RPM gear cover and front bumper. Had a Stinger 20 motor in it, switched it to the Titan 12 with a 19 tooth gear. T-Maxx rear shocks and stole shocks off my Redcat Volcano S30 for the front. Dyed the stock white rims with Rit black dye witch came out great, then cleaned and put on the original stock Stampede tires. The body is from my Tamiya Midnight Pumpkin, the original hard plastic one. I think it looks real good on there! Have more things planned for it soon! Hopefully the pic shows up!

RE: OFFICAL PEDE THREAD
Good looking trucks guys.
Jungle rush,
Maybe you could find out if the arms and shock towers from the rustler wil fit.
Here is my pede. 4X4
I added 1" wheel extensions. It is very hard to get it to roll now.
