Default Tamiya Rising Storm?

Hey..Im looking into getting a 4wd electric st or buggy...I would go with the xxx-t but im not wanting to spend that much plus its not 4wd. I seen the rising storm kit and its a good price but never delt with tamiya..is this a good quality buggy or is it more of a toy? Im not planing on racing just bashing... hows tamiyas customer service? Can you get replacement parts easy? Just fill me in...Now i dont want to hear its junk because u dont like tamiya...Im wanting facts here from people who either have or ran this buggy a few times...Thanks!

If you just plan on bashing tamiyas are fine. Parts are not hard to find and they are more durable than alot of people think. Alot of people don't like Tamiyas because they are not great racers but they are great bashers and pretty easy to maintain. I built a Tamiya Hornet to start teaching my 2 year old son to drive and he is actually doing very well but he has had quite a few very ugly impacts and so far has not broken anything!! I have always liked Tamiya Kits they are fun to build and drive and are very inexpensive.

agreed.. For bashing, I think the Tamiya stuff actually works a lot better than a lot of the competition kits out there.. It also helps as well too that Tamiya tend to not have the crazy short model cycle than some other manufacturer's have. This means that you won't see 100 new versions of the kit within 2 months of you getting it, as has been the case with some comptition car manufactuers.

Tamiya parts are very common also.... Seems that they are found at just about every HB out there too...

The Rising storm and TT-01 have lots of interchangable parts such as the prop-shaft, and diff's. The only weakness I see in the truck is its chassis. Its the shinny black taymia stuff that if you overtighten the screws the plastic turns white... Although the nice thing is, a new chassis is 5$

Im also looking at the rising storm and getting alloy shaft and shocks and bearings. Some1 have a site with specs about the car, and what ESC does it come with? I wanna run a 19t spec motor.

Thats what one of the main things I was worried about. I would like to be able to replace the stock tires with something from proline or something like that. I wonder if it uses the same wheels/tires as a b4 or a xxx-4. I hope so because that makes for a good tire selection. Aftermarket support was one of the main reasons why I was turning away from this buggy. I still want one bad though and an most likely going to end up getting one anyway.

the reason u aren't feeling the wing on it is coz its upside down.... i did the exact same thing ....then i realised ....had to buy a new bodyshell just to cut out the wing again.....lololol......i thought it was just me who did this.....funny ...i sprayed mine the same colour too

I have a Storm, too. Any wheel with 12mm hexes will work. I have the HPI SS wheels on mine.

I have a Tamiya Rising Storm as well. They are a good reliable RC Car that can take a good bashing! I just got some hop-ups for this car from GPM. I got Front and Rear Shock Towers, Front and Rear Shocks, and GPM Alloy Complete Arm Set (Front and Rear). There are also plenty of spare parts and many different hop-up options available on the web. As I can afford it I will defenately get more hop-ups for this car.

Hi i got a rising storm about 2 weeks ago in new to 1/10th off road its great fun, brill car. As you guys say great for bashing i have got yokomo 17t motor in it mine flies like a beast,
i have orderd to some gpm shocks from hong kong. Beacuse i live in england i have to get them from obroad like u.s. or hong kong. Which is a real drawback. The one thing i would comment on is the front shock tower is really weak and thin i have gone through 2 now its a joke, im now using a yokomo one for the time beaing which works well. If anyone knows somewhere in england that sells aluminium hop ups for the DF-02 that would be great thanks
JK
