More Tamiya Re-releases?
Pardon me if there's already a thread on this (didn't see one in my search), but I was browsing the Tamiyausa.com site under the IHobby gallery and saw a couple more vintage cars pictured. Don't know if they were there just for show, or if they're advertising more re-releases of vintage buggies, but the pics definately show a Frog, a Thundershot, a Top Force and a Manta Ray (along with the already re-released Hornet).
My neighbor (back when I was growing up) had a Frog (I had a Fox). I think these re-releases are a cool idea for Tamiya! Don't know if they'll do it...but I'm holding out for a BigWig!

RE: More Tamiya Re-releases?
Yeah I'm pretty (really really) excited about all these reissues. I picked up a few new Frogs, Hornets and Thundershots recently. I hope they release more of the classics too like the Super Champ and Bruiser. All the Tamiya cars trucks from the 80's look SO SO much cooler and better than the ones today.
Check out the forums at www.tamiyaclub.com for more info.
Long live the Tamiya classics!!!!!!!

RE: More Tamiya Re-releases?
Well.....I picked up a Frog for myself and a buddy of mine bought a Lunchbox. We set aside an evening for assembly. Man, I had forgotten just how much FUN it is to build from a kit! We took our time, being meticulous about filing burrs off pieces that came from a plastic parts tree. For me, I think I actually have more fun doing the assembly than running them once they're put together.
Eagle - I agree. Don't quite know what it is about the 80's buggies and trucks (especially from Tamiya), but the cool factor is definately higher than today's kits. I'd love to see a re-release of the Bruiser as well, but I'm not holding my breath just yet. I have noticed that the availability of the Frog, Hornet and Lunchbox on Tower Hobbies' website keep going in and out of stock. I wonder if Tamiya is limiting the initial production, or if they're just selling like hotcakes? If they're selling really well, seems we might look forward to more re-releases in the future??
Ahhhh.....reliving the days of high-profile tires, 32 pitch gears, and quality kits you can build from the ground up.

Nitro...the ones you mentioned (Manta Ray, Thundershot, Top Force) are being rereleased, if they're not already out.

RE: More Tamiya Re-releases?
Just got my new Lunchbox all built...FUN FUN FUN!! Got it all decked out with a LRP esc and a P2K2 Pro motor. Also put in some headlights. Made the body exactly like the box, it brings back great memories! It's such a blast, I want to pick up the Blackfoot too, maybe even a Clod...They are so cheap, why not, and relive the old times!

Ok, pics are here, but my host is down at the moment (maybe it's just my connection...let me know) I linked to them instead of showing the pics as they are high res...
Anyway, lighting sucks...

RE: More Tamiya Re-releases?
Lunchbox is $92.99 at Tower right now . I used the Tamiya TS-16 paint which is the color they list in the manual. I was thinking about doing a Mystery Machine sort of body, but wanted a original looking first. I'll pick up another body and Scooby Doo it all up later.
edit: Looks like the 'Boxes are out of Stock until Mid-Fed at Tower...Horizon Hobby has them in stock at $99.99
