RE: Tamiya F-150
Just finished painting/decaling my first build, always wanted one of these F-150's as a kid. I decided to go custom paint so this is not only my first RC build but my first time with an airbrush.
I used Spaz Stix Candy apply red annodized metal on the front half and blue on the rear. i backed them using Tamiya chrome model paint, I also "free hand" painted the bed and roll bars with tamiya Chrome and black. Did a little changing around of a few decals from the stock setup, mostly due to the black ones not showing up real well on my overlay area of red/blue. My original plan was to split the truck Red/blue with a 45 degree clean break on the doors but my masking bled through also see lesson 1 below. I decided to overlap the red and blue hoping for a purplish transition. Came out OK I think for the first time.
Airbrushing lessons learned - for the novice like me.
1. Mask everything you don't want any color on, I ended up with a "dusting" of candy apple red over a lot of the body's interior.
2. Wear a respirator - Ended up with a searing headache after my first go at it. Good thing i had windows open, no permanent side affects as yet.

4. You REALLY have to make your coats even - I have some blemishes due to light coverage on the hood and some pooling. Keep the brush moving.

RE: Tamiya F-150
I just thought id share some pics of my f150. i love this truck. its not very fast with silvercan but its FUN in dirt. i havent broken anything yet it keeps coming back for more. i did lose the screw that holds the rear upper control arm. to remedy that i took a machine screw that fit in the holes and put just a little but of heat shrink tubing on the end where it goes thru that control are part (bigger) and used a little locknut on the other side. been perfect ever since. yes i know its dirty and i know the body isnt all that but i didnt build it to be perfect. i built it to play with it. i really want the s-10 body and sticker set for it. so far ive only been able to find the body at tower.

RE: Tamiya F-150
Picked up my old 150 and dusted it off, I remember why I stopped playing with it. The rear output shafts keep popping out making a front wheel drive truck.
Anyone know of the instructions online? I can't get these shafts to stay in the rear transfer case, they pop out and just flop around. I was going to glue them together and hope for the best
thanks

RE: Tamiya F-150
Can anyone help me find a replacement chassis tub for my F150 that doesn't cost a crazy amount of money? The only ones I can find are on ebay for $30 after shipping!
Been restoring my very old original release F150 and managed to replace all of the shocks and all of the red gear case plastics for pretty cheap, but the main chassis tub is snapped right where it mounts to the rear gear case under the motor and the steering mount standoffs have broken off as well.
I'm considering buying a 3.5mm carbon fiber sheet and cutting a new chassis for it since it will cost less than the replacement TA02 chassis I found on ebay and should last a lot longer?

RE: Tamiya F-150
the last chassis my got for his chey s10 was straight from tamiya. He ordered it through the lhs, I don't remember what he paid tho. it was a little longer than the original and red. I dont know if they were the same truck, after seeing a few pics.
