it's not worth it
Electric spools up so fast there would be little gain in top speed
and their not legal for racing

I think that while it wouldn't be legal for racing, it would definitely be cool to have for fun! I know that hpi used to make a 2 speed for the rs4 lineup of vehicles, and that worked. I plan to try and find one for my rally. the extra torque in low gear could be advantageous for off road, and when on road, extra top end would be great!

only concern is that it looks like it uses an extra half inch between the motor, and the motor mount. it might not fit in some vehicles...
still interesting though. the e-maxx uses 2 speeds effectively, I guess an electric touring car could too!

The whole point of a 2 speed is to go faster. The first gear you would want a lil lower then normal ratio. Then when it shifts to a way higher ratio the motor is alreay at high RPMS so it wont heat up like it would if you just way over geared.Yes there NOT legal.Would be pretty cool to put in a pede with a nice 19T though yea?

I saw this too. I race on a huge grass track in the summer and thought it might work there. I haven't seen or heard anything about it though, so I'm hesitant.

It's pretty interesting, but I think for mounting in an ST like I have it would throw off the balance, making it even less useful for racing. Also, I have better things to spend $70 on. Still kind of cool though.
