New motor for my Evader ST (ep)
Hi.
After running my Evader outside a couple of times, I've been thinking about a upgrade on the motor part.
What kind of motor do you suggest? What motor would make the most difference? I want SPEEED!! but at a decent price, preferbly below 30 bucks. I do not want to change my ESC so I guess a 20-27 motor would be my target, or is a 19t possible to run without breaking anything?
My main focus has been on 21t motors, but if a 27t motor can perform better then the Photon Speed, I'll take that instead. Or if a 19t can do the trick?
Gimme your thoughts and ideas pls!

The esc on your evader will handle an 18 turn motor, just get a GOOD one, one with torque. Also you can change the pinion gear and pick up top end speed but low end power will drop off, it just depends on where you are running it. Make sure you use GOOD batteries too (7 cell), not those crappy little nicads and put Deans connectors on to get full power

reedy mvp stock motor, its freking fast and it only gets faster after you put new brushes in it, its a little more than 30 bucks but its a good investment

I cant seem to find the RPM on the Photon Speed motor anywhere, would be nice to see the difference, or I could always go for a 18t motor.
Would Deans really make a noticeble difference?

just trust me man, the photon motor is crap and eats brushes like hot wings, in a few more runs the photon motor will need brushes, with the reedy mvp motor you will see a 10mph speed increase or even more

Well my Photon has already started to sound bad, so I guess its the brushes.
It stands between the Reedy MVP and the Green Machine, it's only 2 buck between them, and if the Green Machine is the best there is, I'll guess I'm going for that one. As it seems a 18t motor wont be better even though the lower turns.
Any ideas of how often these motors need service?

Ehhhh, not true. When I bought my truck we put in that 19T Chameleon Pro 2 and it fried the ESC. That motor is a 19T. It seems the ESC is probably good to 19T tops. However, since a 19T fried it, I am thinking 20T is the lowest you can go.

If a 19 turn motor fried your esc you had a bad esc and should have sent it back. It says right in the manual they will handle an 18 turn and up motor.

Ive been looking into a new motor for some time now also. I am pretty sure I'll spring for the quad mag, but will the stock ESC handle it? Im probably getting an Alum. idler too since the stocker is toast.

I've heard of people smokin their stock esc's with the quad mag, but never whitnessed it. I just bought an evader pro and i'v heard of the idlers burning out. What are the signs that the idler is bad, and how long does it take to happen??

Definately get the reedy 19T quad mag. I put one (as many have here) into my stampede and it had quite a noticible speed increase, as well as torque.
The green machine is a good motor, I have used one in my older r/c, but I think that the reedy outperforms it.

hehe I guess Im to afraid to go for a 19 turn engine, since the esc is said to take 20 turn motors, not 18 or 19 as some one of you have seen....

Hell's is right. The Stock Evader ST can only handle 20T and up. The pro can handle 18T and up.
That ESC he has a link too is the stock ESC in any Evader ST, and is only good for 20T and up. I put in a 19T and fried it. I had to get another ESC.

If the manual says it can handle 18+, go with a chameleon 2...

The PRO's ESC can handel it the EP can not
The PRO's ESC can handel it the EP can not
I should have been more clear. My ST is NOT a pro model. I can't speak for a PRO ST, but I know a non pro ST's ESC cannot handle a 19T motor like a Reedy.

yeah it can, the sprint esc is rated down to 20 turns, you can safely drop a 19turn in there any day, i used my evader esc with a reedy quad mag, look through my posts this summer and you will see,
