dang, i just looked at the instruction manual on my pirahna digital peak charger and it will only charge nimh up to 300 mah. that was a waste of 50 bucks. guess i shoulda got the ICE or the Team Checkpoint. those are lots of dough i cant spare right now ! [] look out ebay here i come !!! gonna have to start selling stuff ! lol ! what kind of chargers is everyone else using? or recomend ?
Which charger do you have? If its this one http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCLD5&P=ML it will charge up to 5000mah. I have that one and I charge my 4600mah 7 cell on it all the time. Always peaks.
yep, thats the one i got and i thought i read it only chatges up to 3000 mah. i guess i read it wrong. thanks rymans.

That's on 6 cells? Wow!
6 cell SMC IB 4200... [X(]
cheech and coaliton,

I recently bought some of these packs from a racer who offered them at a reasonable price. They are SMC IB-4200 6-cell matched packs. Now, I am aware that there have been stories of these particular cells blowing up, so I want to be cautious with them (how do you maintain them?). I was recommended by the seller to discharge them to 5.4 volts and to charge them at 6 amps with no more than a .03 peak detect (cutoff). Now, the problem is that I only have a MRC Superbrain 960 and its maximun charging capacity is rated at 3700mAh at 4.5A. I have searched for info on this and some owners state that the 960 can charge more mAh than its claimed capacity. My question is, how can I discharge to 5.4 volts if my charger doesn't have that feature? Are there any cheap NiMh dischargers out there?

Sorry if I got out of topic but these batteries are specifically for the evader.

Sounds like the right thing to do in my case. I wanted to follow the seller's instructions on how to care for these packs mainly because of safety precautions. I suppose his maintenance instructions are aimed at racers who want to keep their packs in otpimum condition. Who knows, maybe I am feeling buyer's remorse after reading stories of IB-4200 cells blowing up [&:]

I have been charging the rest of my packs (GP3300s and IB3600s) with the charger's default setting of 3 amps and no problems yet. I guess I'll do the same with the IB-4200s. Would charging these at 3A be easier on the cells? Thanks.

I'd say it could go around 50mph since I can go 40+ with a 6 cell on my 5700.

Yea I agree cause I can do 45+ on 7 cells with my 4600. Of course I geared the crap out of it But it still counts

Well, I found [link=http://youtube.com/watch?v=xaKebiUuH6I]this[/link] video and they are using a Mamba Max 5700 with 8 cells and are going 60 MPH. Are they just saying that they are going that fast or what?[8D]

no where in that vid did they show testing for mph, unless i missed it... plus it doesnt look faster or that much faster than my evader speed run, so there no way it did 60 mph... i think they were blowing up some smoke....

Not to be disrespectful but it did show a gps with 60 on it.....But it didn't show them stopping and taking the body off. So one never knows. Just my pennies worth..

So about how fast would a Sidewinder 5700 go on 8 good cells? Only 40-45 MPH? Does the Sidewinder 5700 and Mamba Max 5700 have the same top speed on the same number of cells? I was also wondering if the Sidewinder woud take off slower than the Mamba Max since it can handle 70 amps instead of 100? Thanks for the replies.

I'm thinking of getting a LiPo battery for my evader + sidewinder and i'm not really sure how much amperage the esc will draw from the LiPo. That way i can cut the costs on the LiPo battery and get something like 10C or 15C rather than the more expensive 20C and beyond.

anyone running a low profile tire and rim set-up. the tires and rims that come on the evader st are ok , but they are out of balance and a bit heavy. i seen some LP rear tires at tower but cant find the matching rims. im looking for litest, best balanced 2.2" tire and wheel combo out there. i hate it when i pick my truck up off the ground, then hit the throttle and the rear tires wobble like crazy ! drives me nuts.[:@] lol !

Did you glue them or were they pre-glued. My Mashers are VERY unbalanced. You could try ot balance the rim using some clay and a prop balancer.

on 7 cells about 40-43, 8 cells closer to 50, i would say 47.. and yes both systems will have the same speeds if you going with the SW limit.. the SW can only take 8 cells on the 5700 where the MM can power 3s lipo. so up to 8 cells they will be both the same. as far as the amp thing the MM will be faster cuz it can push more power hence the price difference.. but the SW is no joke at 70, did you see my vid?? thats on nimh smc 6 cells. thats pushing out 35-40 amps, 70 amps is doubled the accelleration of what u see in that vid..

i saw that but i still don't believe it.. CC them selves said that 60 mph is doable in a 5700 with a 3s lipo and they were using a touring and buggy for there tests.. and i have seen on losi XXXT and T4 break the 60 mark with a 3s lipo.. but a heavy car like a rusty and on 8 cells nimh 9.6 volts compared to 11.1.. still hard to believe.
