okay i guess i will stick with the 6 cell gens ace pack then. and then when my photon speed 2 goes out, i could just buy a hpi firebolt 15T if i wanted more speed.
When that photon goes out then you would need a new esc for the firebolt unless you are using the xl-5 esc.

with the stock esc it will only alow the use of 20 turn motor no lower so if you want a 15 turn motor you will need to buy a new ESC and if you are going to buy a new esc and a 15 turn motor i suggest just buying a cheap ezrun brushless combo for $59.00 .

oh okay. yeah then i would just use my XL-5 i have sitting around. i am really not looking to making this brushless, because brushless gets expensive fast IMO. my bandit, its been a money pit for quite some time after making it Brushless.

It's just the oposite if you go brushless ssystem for $59.00 you will save money down the road because you will not have to buy brushed motors all the time that cost like $25.00 and up a motor.

If your saying you will break more parts because it's way faster then that's wrong also you can go with something that's faster than stock but not crazy fast... a $59.00 EZrun system with the 3000KV motor will be perfect... reasone why guy's break everything is because they put these sick fast 5000 + KV motors in these things and it's over kill.

I have a 3000KV and a 3900KV and both are plenty enough for the evader platform.

oh okay thanks. i will see how i handle the brushed setup, and if it becomes a money pit, i will get the Brushless. in my bandit, all the electronics are holding up, but my battery is now dead because it was a 6 cell 2000mah and couldn't supply the brushless setup what it needed. and then the whole left steering assembly broke after the tire fell off......thats about $30-$40 there. so i have a lot to spend

Good you didnt go with the dt because the look isnt worth $40... Especially because it isnt as good. You should go with the 7 cell battery then because both the bandit and ext2 can handle 7 cells.

okay thanks i guess i will go with the 7 cell then. probably the onyx 5000mah stick pack for $43. how has your brushed setup been going for you? has your motor lasted you a good long time?

Well, my motor has replacable brushes, but i kinda like my motor. I would rather have a motor that does not need to be geared 16/88...

yeah im going to look for a motor with replaceable brushes too the firebolt 15t isn't rebuildable which i really don't like. its a lot cheaper than buying a whole new motor. how do you replace the brushes though? seems tough to do.

might as well go lipo. the gens ace 5000 40c 2s is down to $30 and is more than capable of supplying your bandit with the juice it needs. add on a $25 novak lvc and your good to go on the evader. you can buy a thunder ac6 charger for about $40.

its really not that scary. as long as you dont stab them you'll be fine. the gens ace packs have a weird setup that keeps the pack from blowing up should you plug the wires in backwards (i assume they all have it). if they truly terrify you, get an ammo box and call it good.

if you're afriad of the chemestiy LiFe's are a much safer pack and you could take an ax to them with no real danger... Maxamps has some for an arm and a leg, hobby city has some, and tower may as well... the voltages are on the low or high side but the extra power should be able to work if you get a 2s pack... or you'll notice a small drop in top end, but you'll have a much more stable discharge curve than NiHM's

something like that

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ePo4_Pack.html

cumquat does make a good point, are they good to practice juggling with in the rain? no... but as long as you think about what you're doing with them, then you're fine....

yeah i have heard about lifepo4 packs but i have asked around on several other forums, and people have not had good luck with the turnigy ones. i would also like to store the lipos in my garage if i was to get them, but i am not sure if that would be good for the batteries. if i can store them in the garage and charge them outside on the patio (of course not unattended) then i would have no problem going with lipos....but idk if thats a good idea.

Another note is does your bandit have traxxases stock 3500KV motor and brushless esc?
If it does it draws much more amprage than the cheap $59.00 EZ run brushless systems because the EZ run motors in thos combos are realy 380 sized brushless motors they draw much less current so you don't need a super high grade battery to power them... I tested the curent draw of a 3000KV 540 size LRP motor compaired to the 3000KV EZ run motor in the same truck same gearing and the LRP motor drew alot more amps i don't recal the #'s but it was way more amprage.

Also a brushed motor with replacable brushes usually the comutator on the armerture is very faled up and ruiend with the one use of the stock brushes and if you put new ones on the motor your motor will just eat them up way faster and the motor will be way less effecient..... you supposed to cut the motors comutator when you replace new brushes to make it like new again.

I still say your best bet is go with a cheap EZ run system with a 3000KV motor and you will be very happy.

The black body is a beauty great choice!!

Again you don't need lipos with cheap EZ run systems as they are 380 size motors I run mine with NIMH 3900 packs and they power it just fine sure lipo is better but is not needed for the low amp draw aplication.

okay thanks shenlonco. the bandit does not have the 3500kv motor. it has the tacon 3200kv motor in it. and i will probably just move the brushless from the Bandit to the Evader since the Bandit was better off brushed because after Brushless, it has been a pain to run and keep it running.

That's a 550 size brushless motor your talking about... that's just about the same specs as the traxxas motors they use in there RTR cars.... to tell you the truth your bandit will handel that 3200KV motor better than the EXT2 the bandit is built much stronger like a tank thick and bulky... I know i own traxxas and the evaders...I would get a 3000KV tacom motor for $23.00 at hobby partz and run it with your bandits ESC that motor is good for the ext2 i use it in mine and it works great on NIMH with the stock gearing and anywhere from 21 to 23 tooth pinion.... no it's not super dooper fast but it's a good speed and long run times. also with the life packs lug showed they will probably work great with this set up because it won't draw alot of current you may even want to go with the 3900KV motor if going life since they are lower voltage you will make up some speed with the extra KV's.

okay thanks. i will get the 3000kv tacon then for the evader. i'm probably not going to use the lifepo4 batteries since i haven't heard very good things about the hobbyking ones, and the others are expensive. but if the towerhobbies ones will work, then i could get those.

The other life packs cost to much get a 3000KV tacom for your esc and get the 6 cell gens ace 5000 NIMH packs gear it 21 tooth first and you should be good and your wallet won't be empty!

idk if this is the correct motor, but this is the only 3000kv tacon i could find in the 1/10-1/12 section......and it's expensive.
