I have yet another question regarding the ol' RC10 I got. The tranny looks like it's missing the clutch disk type thing - but then, the way it's set up, I'm not sure where it would fit in. Maybe my pics here would help (hope they're clear enough).

It's like the shaft that comes out of the tranny has a metal adapter-type piece on it that has 2 arms on it. The spur gear sits right on that, and screws into those arms. No room for a clutch below the spur gear like I've seen in some manuals. Kinda wacky. Or maybe the disc goes over the spur gear, and the allen-head screws go through it and into the arms on the adapter-piece below the gear. Either way, that "adapter piece" isn't something I've seen in the manuals.

Eh, mebbe it'll work as-is anyway.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I emailed the eBay seller of the RC10 (he's pretty helpful) to see what he says. But if it works, hey - I might go for it. Rebuilding to spec is always an option too.

I wonder what that clutch disc was for anyway - a lot of the manuals show it, but I've got no clue what purpose it serves. Since it's not a moving part, it's not obvious to me.

Ah, I see. The seller told me "It has a direct drive assembly that I put on it because I thought the clutch was slipping but it was the tranny out of adjustment. I left it on because it seemed to work better".

So I guess I'm cool. Good to hear it's probably ok, too.

I gotta take the time to check out all those vids of yours - man, that's a ton!

Well, went out and bought a new charger (Piranha digital peak charger) and a 3600 NiMH battery for the '10. Got it all charged up and ready to go last night for a quick test run this morning before work, but got thwarted by the weather. Darn PNW weather! Once the water goes down a bit at my place I'm gonna have to run it around a bit, rain or no rain. This is killing me now - I get a new toy and I can't play with it. Arghhhh!!!

That's what I was afraid of. It's almost like your best bet is to find a chassis on eBay and fork out the $$ so you have the spare parts lying around. Costly, though. I'm so tempted to get one everytime I see one on eBay (infrequent, but they pop up now and again). But initial price plus difficulty for parts scares me.

But wow, those are cool cars.

the reedy outlaw is a 540 as for turns ill look into that
