RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
That should run great in your DI. I run a 5700MM on 2 and 3s with 26/85 gearing. It runs pretty warm but a 4600 should be cooler. I can't recomend a specific gearing for you though.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
Hi there,
thankyou for the offer.
Web site is: http://www.petitrc.com/view_news.php?id=4622
You'll find it under Tamiya DF03/ Dark Impact of cause. damper oil , camber , spur and pinion are easy enough. I have no hope with the rest.
Does anybody if there any other setup sheets out there? EA have plenty for my B4 but there's not much for the DI
Regards col

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
ok.. I'll do the sheet dated 2007/5/30.
Front
Height: 24mm
Camber: -1
Toe: 0
Front Drive: Diff
Stabiliser: None
Damper: TRF501 Type Aeration (I'm not familiar with this shock)
Spring: TRF501 Type Yellow
Oil: Team Associated 35
Piston: W4
Inner Spacer: 2mm
Rear
Height: 24mm
Camber: -1
Stabiliser: None
Damper: TRF501 Type Aeration (I'm not familiar with this shock)
Spring: TRF501 Type Red
Oil: Team Associated 30
Piston: W4
Inner Spacer: 1mm
Wing Position: Lower
Center Drive: One-Way
Slipper: Team Associated B4 Use 48p
Front Tyre: LOSI Blockhead Red.
Front Inner: Tyre Attachment (I think that means it came with the tyre)
Front Wheel: Large Dish 6 holes
Rear tyre: LOSI X2000 Red
Rear Inner: Tyre Attachment.
Rear Wheel: Large Dish 6 holes
Motor: LUNA 10TW
Pinion: 22(48p)
Spur: 81(48p)
Body: Zenega
Wing: Azarashi round
Note:
Fr-A 1 tapered washer
Fr-B standard
The rear damper end is made by HPI
The length of the damper is extended using A318 (?)
A one cm cut is made on the side of the front wing nose
Leave 1 cm on the lip of the rear wing.
A cooling hole for the body is open completely.
A MuchMore cooling fan is used the the direction to suck the heat out.
and I'm sorry, I couldn't really make out the last couple of notes.
Either they do or do not use a protective sheet under the chassis, and there's something about a Gap being extended when there's not much grip.... didn't make much sense to me.
There you have it.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
Well I got my DI at last.
Second hand from the local on-line Auction site.
Box stock plus a sport tuned can.
I have since put my 23t Tamiya Superstock RZ motor in there with the 26t pinion and the 85t spur. It moves out well.
Power is from GP3300's or for a real laugh I put in my IB4200's out of my rigger.
After 2 days I broke a front dog-bone ( spectacular crash) so now it is rear wheel drive for a week while I find some new shafts.
Rwd plus wet ashphalt is an absolute hoot to drive on. Even in the dry it is a bit of a handfull.
I have read this thread from page 1 so at the moment have no questions.
I love my DI.............for now.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
here are some more completed pics. I had a couple hick-ups in the building. i found out that i wont be able to use the lay down servo mounts successfully. the servo saver comes in contact with the bottom pate. wil have to she if i can get a different servo saver.
gotta find some ball studs to mount the shocks. the bottom ball mounts are bigger than the stock tamiya mounts. Does anyone know what size ball mounts i can use in there?
I also need to get a couple more turnbuckles for the steering links, and for the servo, since it so much closer to steering assembly.
some pics for those who like to look at pics.
sorry about the fuzziness. i cant figure out what size ball i need to fit in here
kawada slipper, i can only assume its the inch conversion that is available for this chassis.
and in this pic, you can see how i had to cut down the stock tamiya ball cups inorder to make the hard tamiya turnbuckles fit.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
I didn't see an official Avante MkII thread, so I'll ask here:
I just started putting together my Avante (DF-03), and I don't like all the phillips head screws. I've already stripped the flat-head screws that hold the motor plate on. I want to get a screw kit that uses hex recess screws for everything. I see the 3racing TS-DF03/V1 kit advertised, but can't find a picture or description that shows whether they're hex or phillips. Anybody know? Also, I don't really need Ti screws, so if there is a cheaper SS or CS screw kit that would fit the bill, let me know. Lastly, I can get the machine screws in SS locally, but a source for just the self-tapping ones would be great if (more like when) I ever need to replace them.
Thanks in advance,
John.

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
Hi all, Just thought I would share a couple of pics of my sons DI. I originally bought this last year and then gave this to him for christmas along with an upgraded front end, motor , & new esc. We finally took it out to run last Sunday & he was having a blast with it. He was running along the edge of the parking lot at high speed when he hit a sign post. The photo shows the carnage that happened to the chassis. I'm sure that this has happened to others too. But it is rather ironic that the sign post he hit was holding a stop sign on it!!!! lol

RE: Official Dark Impact Thread
Hi, been lucky enough to get my hands on a Dark Impact. Transferred my ezrun brushless to it today and my god it fly's. Did get my lipo's today so that made a huge difference too.
Much prefer this df-03 than my TL-01 HBX buggy seems to be better build quality.
Here's a pic

Try this for a better front gearbox mount

Got the ezrun 9t yesterday and god almighty the car goes so fast the tires kept coming off! Have glue them today so will post a video once they've dried. Anyone running a slipper clutch with one of these brushless set ups?
