Default Does nitro have more power than electrics?

Well this guy is trying to tell me a nitro has more power (he is actually trying to say torque but he don't know that word) than an electric. He's saying those big MT's have nitros because they need power to get all over the rocks. So I was like electrics ones kick their asses, but thens hes like but you don't want speed.

So can everyone tell him a brushless would kill a nitro MT in torque and speed?

you dont want speed on an MT. I saw this vid of a guy with a BL in his MT and when he did turns with the BL the MT just rolled and crashed.

Yep, he thinks that electrics are just speed machines, and that they have no torque, he think s nitro MT would beat a BL one off the line..

btw this is the guy

also, if electric was sooo powerful and good...

then y dont they use it in earth moving machines? THEY DONT! even though fuel is more expensive and electric alot cheaper they use fuel (engine powered) because it has so much monster torque.

just imagine a mining dump truck going 100kmph... u wouldnt want that but it would be fun to see!

*insert sarcastic voice* oh no that cant be because they use them in full scale vehicles, and why would they even make a nitro mt if electric is so good.

Yeah he is a noob, thinks electrics are for speed not torque.

well electrics r fast and they have torque. and y would u put a BL in a MT?

and electric BL would kill nitro cause its faster.

also u dont put a BL in a larger scale car because its not strong enough and thats y they use nitro so wot that means is u dont put a BL in a 1/6 scale MT. u use a nitro engine.

also one of the reasons they made an E-maxx was becasue its faster and u do less maintenance compared to nitro. and if u forgot electric loses power.

nitro u just stop it, flip the lid and put fuel in and start'r up and ur off. the electric will just lose power and speed and eventually die then u have to wait for how ever long for batts to charge and that crap.

You just tune it, tune it more, tune it more, then tune it more, then yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, stalled, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank, yank ahh its moving, dead glow plug...

Electric, you just plug it in and go

bull crap! i used to own a nitro and u do tuning in the breaking in and i found the tuning ok and not hard. also with me this is how i started my nitro engine.

1. put fuel in tank
2. pump fuel to carb using the choke by pressing it a few times (3)
3. check radio and all is ready
4. pull fly wheel once or twice
5. give a min or two to warm up
6. YOUR OFF! FULL POWER!

i only ever had my car stall once when i smashed it too much and the fuel like got caught and no fuel went through to the engine.

and i hav never ever had a dead glow plug, seriously[>:]

Electric, plug it in, and go (faster, with more acceleration than a nitro).

u missed the parts:

1. charge the batts
2. check radio and all
3. adjust slipper so its perfect
4. change gears for diff motors
5. charge batts for more than 15min after they die and u might burn out ur motor or the esc might fry

nitro i like and i dont care if its alot of maintenance, i like to take pride of how i care and look after my truck. if you clean it urself and do everything up urself u feel really good knowing that u can do it all.

also nitro is put fuel in and go. which takes like less than a min.

Mmmm anyone here actually check their radio, adjust their slipper, "change gears and diff motors" (whatever the hell that is) before each run?

YES ELECTRIC AND NITRO BOTH HAVE THEIR UPS AND DOWNS MAINTAINCE WISE.

But the thing you said was that a nitro has more power than an electric, thats what we are discussing here.. Not pro's anc cons'.

u r a total idiot i said
change gears for diff motors
which means u have to change ur gearing for different motors that u use.

basically u adjusting ur slipper is the same as tuning the engine cause u need to get the slipper perfect and u need to adjust it time to time.

and u need to check ur radio otherwise u get an outter control car

alright for those of you that think nitro is better with more torque then try this! A friend of mine has a T-Maxx 2.5R and I with my 'pede put a rope between both trucks and had a tug-o-war, guess who won...come on guess! If you said NITRO you are WRONG, nitro doesn't have the spool up speed that electric does, in less than 2 seconds you are at 40,000 rpm and you do have decent torque, surfice to say enough just like nitro to pop the wheels in the air! Now granted at that time my pede couldn't keep up with him on long straights but I could dust him on short tracks! Now with a new motor say a 10T single or 11T double I can keep up with him just not beat him on long runs also! To say that nitro is better depends on lots of things, you must first know how to tune because you "tune tune tune, tune more, wait I got it, nope it stalled" you get the picture, you need a track because lets face it, its no fun running a nitro without a track or something, maybe play chicken with it with some cars on the road but then if you lose well you just got $300 crushed for nothign!

Electric is better because NO CLEAN UP, NO TUNING (if you dont race), Charge and go, you have torque FASTER than a nitro engine, You dont have to buy Fuel and consume your money, with electric you invest say $100 in batteries that will get you a couple (3-4) decent packs, and most of them come in a combo with a charger. batts last about 1000 recharges then you buy more.

Well I never once check my radio, and never once had out of controll car.

Yeah I change gearing to different motors, and where I am driving, but you will find out you need to change clutch bells aswell.

And my slipper clutch does not need adjusting every time the weather changes, you motor does.

very will said Mik! I can vouch for the motor tuning with weather changes! that really sucks about nitros because 10 degree drop is killer to the proformance of the engine on a nitro car/truck. where as I can run my Electric Pede in the darned snow if I really want to! however I wouldn't dare take a 12T motor out in the snow, I'll take it out and let the sand kill it but water, no way!

Also if I run more slipper a little loose nothing happens, you run that engine a little lean and don't expect it to last a gallon.

also thats a good thing about nitros: u can get them wet unlike with electrics and also depending on which electric motor u use u have to adjust the slipper for different speeds and so on.

enough already with the pro's and con's!

were talking about power here knobby!

Are your PM buttons broke.....what a useless thread.

There is no winner between nitro and electric. Its apples and oranges thats why they are in different classes.

.....and FWIW

Ahhh...yes they do. Most of the bigger machines are diesel/electric...like locomotives. The diesel generates electricity that runs electric motors on each wheel that generate a huge amount of torque.

hay trains are diesel electric they use the diesel to make electricity to power the electric motors which have massive torque look how much trains pull . and how fast some of them can go.

1. Thats great, we spend time charging batteries. How much is fuel again??
2. Check the radio? Hmmm as far as I remember I just turn the on on/off button on the radio.
3 My slipper stays the same run to run so I mesh it correctly once and I'm set.
4. This doesnt take as much effort.
5. Everyone knows not to charge their battery just after you ran it so that makes your post invalid.
