Tamiya Ford F-350 High-Lift Truck
One of the most representative American pickup trucks, the Ford F350, is now available as an electric R/C assembly kit. Precision molding has given us a truly accurate reproduction of the truck’s imposing, dominant form. Front grille and bumper are made of metal-plated parts for flashy and stylish look. Chassis features ladder frame with leaf rigid suspension. Loads of metal parts are appropriate for this heavy-duty truck. 3-step transmission enables gear changing even while running for realistic and satisfying R/C action.
Features:
Includes slipper clutch as standard part to protect gears during tough off-road running.
Full-time 4WD system guarantees excellent driving performance.
F/R leaf-rigid suspension can deal with anything the road throws at it.
May be used with separately sold Multifunctional Control Unit (planned for release in late summer 2006)

With all the plastic parts this time around, it shouldn't be too bad.. I mean, if they can sell a TXT-1 for $340 (nice machined aluminum chassis plate, much bigger everything, heavier duty axle), they should be able to sell this one for $250..
I HOPE!!
Time to get a 4 channel stick type remote for the 3 speed shifting!!

LOL, yeah, ha ha!! Still waiting for the TXT-1 to be available at Tower... that's gonna be an expensive one..
I am sure there will be a lot of aftermarket following for this new F-350 High-Lift Truck.. it should be pretty sweet... wonder if the shifting can be done with a 3 channel pistol radio.. because I think for my Futaba 3PM, the 3rd channel is either porportional (mixed program) or switch (2 position, I think). I think you'd need a 3 position switch for the 3 speed tranny....
Hmm.... probably really do need to get a 4 channel stick type radio...

What old guy says "sweet"? LoL...but anyways, the tamiya haulers use a 3 speed tranny which i believe IS manual shift so if it is you will probably need a 4 channel sine it has rearsteer.

Oh, and i can't be the only one who saw the article in the "trucks" section of rc car action a while back. It used a jugg body, 3 speed tranny, front bumper and this chassis type and those scale rims/tires....wonder if tamiya bought his idea[sm=rolleyes.gif], but his was all metal practically.

LOL.. okay, I guess I am not THAT old...
Rear steer is not an issue -> you can just do a Y-harness.. (unless you do what I did for my TLT, which uses the 3rd channel and do a programmable mix.. that way you can switch different mode on the fly with a flick of a switch..)
So you need a minimum of 3 channel for this F350, BUT, the question is, whether a regular 3 channel pistol type (with 2-position switch 3rd channel) can do the shifting or not.. maybe I need to read into the manual some more to see if I miss something on the radio...

If you buy a 3ch you can use the axilary switch rigged up to the shifting servo but that would only shift it once...hmm...

Since my 3 ch radio, the 3rd channel is a switch, it only has 2 position.. so it will work for 2 speed transmission, but not 3 speed.. but like I said, I need to look into the owner's manual some more to see if there's a way around that...

Even with a fourth channel, what would that do?

With a 4 channel stick type radio, you would keep all 4 channel in proportional control, use the right stick for steering (left and right), left stick for throttle (up and down) and shifting (left and right). So you can do 3 speed by moving the left stick to the left (1st gear), center (2nd gear), and right (3rd gear)
That's how the Bruiser / HiLux / etc. works... you can put a standard-H pattern on the radio, just like a real car!! (a shift gate)
