Default Best motor to push a Hyper 7? (electirc)

I'm in the process of converting my Hyper 7 to electric. All i really need to know is if I should go with the Mamba Max 7700 on 8.4v, which maxes out the motor, or wait for the Monster Max to be released. I don't really know much about to Monster Max so I don't know if its worth the wait. What do you guys think I should do? Does the Mamba Max have the power to push the buggy with the added weight of a 7 cell pack? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

You definately need to wait on the Monster Max if you wanna run Mamba. You will need atleast 12 cells to push that 1/8th scale good.

IMO, the best motor you could get is the Lehner 1940. That thing is huge and will give you extreme power.

That motor costs way too much.

Yea, but thats the ultimate setup. Thats what one of my buddies is doing to a Kanai 3 buggy.

But definately don't put a 1/10th BL kit in there. Its just not got enough power and it will run very hot pushing all that weight. Check out www.rc-monster.com

ok. so no mamba max. i just dont have the funds to do that? whats the price of the monster max going to be? how much would the ultimate motor and esc setup cost and what would it consist of? and why the 1940 and not the 1950?

you could use the 1940 or 1950. the 1950 might be overkill in a 1/8 buggy. i have a 1950 in my g2r and its insane. your buggy should be lighter so i would suggest a 1940. my ultimate setup for your buggy would be a lmt 1940 with a quark 125b controller, batteries and kv rating are up to you

thats alot of money i dont have. at first i was considering the novak hv but i didnt want the weight of all the batteries. thats why i thought i should wait for the monster max. I can get the novak hv for $250 new. i think it would be fast enough for me. same with the monster max. the lehner motors have the same rpmk limits that the mamba max motors have. so the difference would be torque right? the mambamotors are suposed to not over heat too.

you dont want the weight of that much batteries? I think you may need more than just 7 cells to push the Hyper7 at a descent speed....just my 0.02.

I'll tell you from experience. If you go cheap, you will fail. First, don't use the HV-Maxx. It has a 1/8 shaft and will not hold up.

If you're happy with 5 minutes runs (any longer and you will fry the ESC), use this setup:
MTroniks Truck ESC $185.00
Feigao 540C 9L Motor $85.00

If you want longer runtimes, you need to use the setup that tallyram listed "Lehner 1940 with a quark 125b controller."

In either case, you should run LiPo. MaxAmps has 6000Mah batts for $80.00.

These conversions are super expensive. You don't realize it until it's too late.

thats a 1940 6t rated at 2613kv. multiply the kv rating by the battery voltage you will be using to get the motors rpm. 2613x14.8(4s lipo)=38672.4rpm, perfect. that setup (1940/6 on 4s lipo) will give you power and speed, it will also give you higher temps. and less runtime than a 1940/9 on 6s lipo. you want the rpm to stay around 35,000-40,000. i would go for the 1940/9 on 6s, the batteries will be more expensive though. it will offer more runtime and better temps. i wouldn't use the quark on 6s lipo, thats pushing it to the limit. the 1940/9 will offer more torque and efficiency aswell, gear it up some for speed.

cool. I talked to the guys at castle creations. they said the monster max is exactly what i want and well worth the weight. the only problem is its still in the development stage. so........ what is the cheepest set-up that will do at least 30mph? something to hold me off untill the monster max comes out.

i would just wait! not worth buying two setups. i like castle, but they use really high kv motors. lots of people run high voltages with 1/18 mambas and they push them beyond their limits. i'm sure they thought it was perfect for everyone aswell! the thing about putting your own system together is that you can tailor it to your wants and needs. you don't have to get a 19 series motor, you could get a wanderer far around $100.00. the lmt motors are hand made using better bearings and materials, hence the higher price. the wanderer motors are super for the price!

hi
i just wanted to second what tallyram has said. those little bl sets are a way too weak for a 8th scale buggy to scream so it will be fun.
the monster max might be an option. but there are plenty of other sets to chose from. the cheapest by now i would say is a bk warrior 9920 with a feigao 7-9XL (or wanderer). 12-14 cells or 4S is good in 8th scale buggy.
the lehners are excellent motors. a 1930 or 1940 is nice for such an application. another nice setup is a plettenberg maxximum with a 18.97kw schulze controller which also works fine up to 14cells. [link=http://62.2.107.106/~beat/Dateien/BLMP7.5.mpg]click[/link] for an old movie of a mp7.5 buggy with the pletty and 12cells.
and don't fool yourself. it will cost quite some money. there is just no way around that. even more if you want longer runtimes and have to go with lipo for that reason.
bye

ok. spending $200-$300 is not bad but $500-$600 is a little crazy for me right now. $90 is not bad for a motor. What would give me at least 15 minute runs at at least 30mph for the least amount of money?
