Default Sleepy's Stampede

well i am looking into getting a pede now for bashing. i have the feigao 6s and mgm controller and a hitec 625mg servo just hanging around waiting on a home, so i figure a pede would be fun. i am bidding on a couple of them and also on a nice tc3. so its kinda a toss up as to which one i will get. i will prolly be outbid on the tc3 so i am trying for the pede.
what all should i plan on doing? i know the rpm carriers and the larger bearings. i also bid on some mip cvds and aluminum shocks. i know i will need a metal idler.
what about the wide-pede conversion? what bout the carbon fiber chassis?
i see some things i think i would change right away and i know it would be getting a Sleepy custom tranny.
so what else should i be thinking about while i wait? do they make a roll cage for it?

That's gonna be a fast Pede. Should be fun...I like the wide conversion. I use the RPM Losi arms and it turns out nice. I've put the Pede rears on the front too. That's an easier way. You covered all the good stuff. I like to cut down the body posts too. Makes the tires look bigger and lowers the COG, if that matters to you. That 6s will flip that thing on it's lid at just about any speed! Enjoy!

Wide pede is a yes unless you want to run offset rims. I dont have the wide-pede.

New tires- [link=http://www.imexrc.com/2.2TIRES_NEW.htm]http://www.imexrc.com/2.2TIRES_NEW.htm[/link]

The plastic shocks aren't any good either. Mine broke in the first week.

Not sure what else though.

I hope you do get a Pede. You'll love it. I'm gonna try to get another one very soon. I'm not sure if you'll like the MIP CVD's on the pede or not. They are just a tad bit too long and can bend on landings. The stock Traxxas slider's are strong enough. (especially if you get steel output yokes and steel street sport axles)

The Wide Pede conversion is a great upgrade also. It really makes the truck alot more stable. I've had a few different conversions, but the best is using HPI Rush front arms. You can find out more info on it here www.inadad.com they have a list of parts and instructions to do the conversion. Just make sure you look for the Rush conversion.

The stock tranny with addition of the aluminum idler will hold alot of power on 6 cells. I didn't have any trouble until I went up to 7 and 8 cell packs. Then I would strip the big diff gear or the little gears inside the diff ever once in a while.

Once you get the truck, put associated diff balls in the spur gear instead of the Traxxas slipper pegs. IMO, the truck also needs a stronger servo saver like the Ofna heavy duty one I was running. Your getting ready to see just how tough the ole Pede actually is. Have fun with it.

f150- dude, its your fault i want a pede. i was checking out somebodys mamba video on the tube something wesite and say the pede video you had....

no, i dont want the new one cuz i really dont want anything other than a radio in it. i will be replacing the servo, esc, motor, turnbuckles, rod ends, will put new bearings in it, will prolly do one of the widening conversions, gonna cut down the posts to ride lower, gonna drop the battery under the chassis and do some custom work down there.
i am gonna also rework the tranny and replace the spur gear setup with a slipper setup from a t4. i might even try retrofitting a t4 tranny onto the pede.
i hope one of the auctions works out for me cuz i really need something to bash. plus the pede is so popular, if i could come up with something cool, i would have a ton of ppl to potentually sell to.
i am also feelin' some racing pin tires for this truck....

my pede is tough as nails, never had a problem with the tranny, well yes I have, but that because I didn't tighten down the slipper and I melted a brand new spur gear! when that plastic melts onto the assoc. diff. balls its a pain in the arse to clean off! I can't wait to see how fast this thing does with that brushless your gonna be running in it!

is a metal diff. gear worth it in this case? is it even made?

Yea, FLM makes one for it and it is neccesary once you overpower the stock one and constantly strip it. It will add rotating mass (which is not sleepy's style) but IMO durability is better then weight reduction in some cases.

I don't mean to hijack your thread Sleepy, but here's the vids Bombers_410
