Thanks guys! Will definitly keep you guys posted.. got a lot of hop-ups on the ways.. not all out, but you know, just stuff that makes sense to me.. so hopefully it will be a cool new project!
I am putting the Sphere / Neo on this one for now.. (while the Mamba Max is still on order..) Yeah, have to sideline the 'Box for awhile.. I hope I can use more of the power on the buggy as you just keep on flipping the 'Box with the Neo.. so hopefully this will be a better "fit"..
Here's a pic of the rear tranny.. (can't see the diff as it is built-up already) For the racers among you, yes yes, I do use A LOT of grease.. and I do know that they create drag, BUT, I want the tranny to last and trouble free.. I don't plan on opening it up often, so I will just have to trade some efficieny with some reliability / durability!

Nice touch on the spur gear cover for quick slipper clutch adjustment...
(yes, slipper clutch on its way from Japan as we speak... :P)

Is Tamiya quality slipping?! Take a look at the gap!!
Nah, we all know what it means => Opportunity to sell hop-ups for the brace... (geez...)
Yeah, I ordered the CF brace for the front already.. don't see anyone selling the rear one yet.. so I will wait for that........

Another future hop-up, I am sure... Tamiya is going to release some kind of blue aluminum steering crank / linkage.. just like for their other kits..
In the mean time, I put ballbearings on.. should be good to go for now!
Also used Dremel to take some material off the top steering arm to clear the center drive cup..

Looking like a DI yet?!
Not sure how much more I can do waiting for those parts to come in.. (don't want to take stuff apart when the parts come in..) But maybe I will build up the shocks (even though I got the aluminum ones coming in..) anyway.. maybe put them on my TLT.. :P

How Do you get the Battery out?
I mean the Chassis looks like it Uses TL-01 Gears and Spurs but the Battery Holder is unique..
I just got a TL-01 Offroader so Your Thread will be Very Helpful

It is a bottom loader... you put the battery in from the bottom and cover it up with a door.. then put a pin through it to secure it.. I can take a pic of it later tonight if you'd like.. let me know!
Good luck with your TL-01!

Ha ha, thanks man.. yeah, figured that it is a good way to document a build of my project.. and maybe someone who's interested in the same car (or not) might find it useful.. it is always useful to get some knowledge from someone who have experience on that particular vehicle!
Will keep you guys posted! Some more build tonight.. not sure when the front brace / turnbuckles / slipper cluctch will come in, though...

RE: Dark Impact - Lunchboxer style..
After reading this I took it out and fixed the chassis and front end...all I need now is a servo and some deans connectors to run my motor...but then what radio system will I use for my twin detonator!? Guess I could switch every once in a while as they break...sheesh that'll never happen

Decision time: Should I put the metal gear high torque servo (Futaba S3350) on the DI, or should I use one that's faster but non-metal gear? (S3010)
For a higher performance machine like this, I guess a high speed servo would make more sense, BUT, since it is a buggy, you'd be jumping it, etc. (unlike a road car) So it might strip the gears.. so in this case, metal gear would be more desirable.. But I guess if I run the stock servo saver (i.e., not that tight, compare to Kimbrough), it should save the S3010..
Yes yes, I should get some digital metal gear servo, but that will have to wait, consider they are like $75 each.. (but do have metal gear + a 60 degree time of 0.1 sec, 2x as fast as the S3350!)
Thoughts!?

You don't need mgJust don't hit any trees or rocks. I jumped mine every run and only reason I broke gears was from hitting trees, flipping off of trees and slamming into more trees.

Yeah, I was leaning more toward the faster speed of the S3010 myself.. I just need to run the stock servo saver for now.. and it should be fine... my S3350 is used on all my trucks, though.. to make sure that they are super tough and run those heavy duty Kimbrough metal-gear only servo savers! Take out all the slop!

Not sure if I am the only one who does this or not.. but I usually glue the edge of the CF parts using CA glue.. CF is strong in the direction of the fiber, but delaminated rather easily, so it is a good practice...
