Default HBX Bonzer Has Arrived

I just Bought a RC Revolution Stone Crusher..
It is also Know as

A HBX Bonzer
HBX Cross Tiger
HBX Bonzer Tiger

Essentially it is a Tamiya TL-01B
So I cant Really say its a Stadium Truck or a Monster Truck as it has the Chassis of an Onroad car with the Ride Height of a Monster Truck and the Speed of a Stadium Truck..

Yes.. It is a Knock off but dont let that Stop you from getting one.
All parts are fully interchangeable with the TL-01..

Essential Mods needed...

Full Ball bearing kit
New Motor
Radio Gear needs a Bit of Tuning but isnt too bad
It has a Cheap feel but at least you can replace the crystals on it and it is Proportional..

Stock, It has an Oversized Drill motor thats Fan Cooled but this Drags a Bit of Power from the Car so after replacing it with a Tamiya Stock 27T and a New 19T pinion its a Lethal Rocket

Expect to See a Skyline or Supra Shell Riding on it Soon..
190mm and 200mm Shells will Fit With a Little Modification..

It now runs a Blu-Tac Locked Rear Diff, A Tamiya Stock motor with 19T Pinion..

It makes a Whirring noise like its not Meshing Properly but I have gone over everything and just put it down to the New Motor spins quicker..
as the Driveline spins smoothly..

Its My Fathers Shed.. Garage Sales Reward you with some Great Power Tools.

I Dare not Show the Axe Collection.. 70+ Axe's, he is a BIG fan of Wood Chopping...

The Improvement the Stock motor Gave it was HUGE. The Chassis is Pretty Easy to work on. I do think it is Sturdy but I noticed some small cracks around one of the Screws where it has been Machine assembled with a Power Driver..
Hardest thing was getting the Gears Back in..

At least I now have the Confidense to replace any part that may go Wrong..

Yep.. I know they Stole the Design but it is Cheap and Cheer ful..

My last offroader was 15 Years ago and that Was a Nikko of Some sort..

besides, By the Time I am Finished with this HBX, it will be 90% Tamiya lol

I have now Worked out the Jumping thing, Its The Approach that has to be Smooth , Gutters are to o Steep and Cause Shocks to go into shock ..

Hi magnat, Be careful when you go jumping!!!!!

I ran out of Nitro one day in the back yard (CEN Genesis LE) & decided to borrow my Daughters HBX Cross Tiger/Bonzer, I got a little excited on the jumps we have set up, & ended smashing off one of the rear upper shock mounts - because when the shock goes into full compression it hits a stop & transfers all the stress into the mount.
So, I borrowed an idea off my Genesis that seems to have fixed this problem (landing on one wheel, after being 2.5 feet in the air).
If you pull the shocks out of the truck, & remove the lower spring retainer, take the spring off, & undo the lower mounting eye from the shock shaft. (You may have to remove the top screw to enable you to do this). Now if you get a piece of silicon fuel tube, around 8mm long, & slide onto each shock shaft. (Reassemble in reverse order).

This mod. will allow the shock to have full travel, but have a soft stopper at the end of its travel, removing this sudden bottoming out slap. (Some minor adjustment in tube length may be required, to suit your desired feel). Seems to be a good cheap fix, till I get around to fitting some Real oil shocks!!!!!!!
I hope this saves your chassis, when you decide to hit the jumps with a little more speed [>:]
