im thinkin about the di then maybe the sphere neo combo later on down the road. Dont you have the same thing? How does the drivetrain stand up to the power? What batts are you running? o yeah and how well do you think the di could get around the track?

Yeah, see my thread on the DI here:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_45..._1/key_/tm.htm

The drivetrain has absolutely no problem so far.. but I do have the slipper clutch.. so some of the abuse is taken there.. instead of the drivetrain..

I have 2 GP3300, and 1 IB-4200 so far..

How well it gets around track?! I think it will be up to the driver.. [:@] It is a decent enough car that it will be up to the driver if you are racing.. it might not be quite up to the proven racers like XXX-4, Laser ZX-5, etc. but it is not that far off that it will be mostly come down to the driver.. given that your DI is setup properly..

ahh so we have 20 more days before any actual building begins... like, 3 pages of nothing but chit chat! i love this thread!

i dont understand, why the name 't-egg', is it some twist on 'Touareg' or something?

The dark impact is nice, I convinced my cousin to get one and it's not a bad car at all, definately pretty solid, and it seemed to jump fairly well.

ok that ill be one of my options. Ill probly go with the di. then ill probly have to get a better battery charger (any suggestions?) for only nimh-nicds. And then probly near holiday season ill get the bl. Or maybe ill just save more and get enough for the bl and the kit. I already have some spare electronics out of some old nitros, can i make those work with an esc?

just curious, what would a good bl motor esc combo be for powering a 10lb truck?

Yeah.. part of the fun... but right.. I won't get the kit until next week... I might start building it, though... I usually can't wait.. although I should be studying... [:'(]

Well, the Touareg sounds like Tour-Egg, so I just call it T-Egg...

yeah, that paint scheme is for a 1:1 production touareg but the body is from the rally version so it looks kinda odd... if they came out with a normal touareg body, so it looks like http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/images/large/1830-6.jpg , then your paint scheme will make alot more sense but i think for now you at least need rally markings for people familiar with the car to look at it and say it looks normal...

Yeah, it uses the long wheelbase version of the Cross Country (XC / CC) chassis..

Did you lock the differentials on yours?!

Got any more pictures? Maybe with the shell off? Let's see it!

Figured that I'd give it a try.. for the front diff, I packed in as much grease as possible.. (you can see that some are squeezed out and I just clean it up..) Hope to achieve a limited slip effect without totally locking it.. hmm.. not sure how it will work out..

Initially reaction (from using hand to turn the outdrives) says it should be of some sort of limited slip as it is not easy to turn the outdrive.. but probably still not as "stiff" as I'd like.... we will see once it is running.... (3 weeks from now.. hee hee.. )

Interesting drivetrain..... the main attraction for me...

It is built w/ full ballbearings, of course...

Okay, that's it for tonight...

Will put the metal gear S3305 servo in it.. (hmm.. overkill? Small tires, right?) Or should I just put the standard servo? Hmm..

Will put the R143F receiver in it.. (save the syntheized Novak for my TXT... )

Need to decide whether I want to lock the rear or just packed w/ grease again for tha "limited slip" setup...

Eric....

When you start a new thread like this please email me. How dare I be left out of three full pages!!![:@]

Ha, just kiddin! Seriously though, email me....sheesh..

So you couldn't wait to build it huh. I can see it now, you're studying and that kit is sitting there. The urge is unbearable!! Happens to...um...ALL of us!!..LOL

That looks like a definite buy, I'll add it to my list and you have a good point about it being discontinued. I want the XR311, but I am going to put it on the back burner for now...just not feelin it.

That looks pretty sweet, what grease are you using in the diffs? Tamiya never gives you enough grease in their kits.

I definitely agree with your choice to 86 the Egg's body for the Blackfoot. It looks really nice with the TLT wheels. When I saw chebbie's, I immediately thought Bruiser. It brought a faint tear to my eye.

Awesome!

LOL! I figured that you browse the forum pretty often... and when you see "Lunchboxer style", figured you'd jump in already..

Yeah, pretty interesting setup, isn't it?! Weird enough for me to want one...

The XR311 is interesting too, though.. but that's like a REALLY old school design.....

The grease are just automotive grease that I got from auto store.. I was hoping that it would be even thicker, but oh well... I think it has enough drag to pretend one from spinning up like crazy (free spinning) hence should divert enough power to the other wheel.. (maybe not at slow slow speed, as the wheel speed differential is not great enough) So if I got stuck, maybe I can just give it some power to spin up the tires then both wheel would have power..

Maybe not a good crawler setup.. but should be good for running around going over stuff..

Don't know.. will see how it works soon!!

Sure.. better get them before they are gone!!

Tamiya USA was clearing them out.. so I feel that they might be discontinued soon.. (just a guess)..

You can still get them at Tower...
