Default Best canidate for 70+mph

I need to know what on-road 1/10 chassis is the best for 70+mph. Its for a friend and he's looking into going into electric from nitro. IMO I thought a TC4 would be a good canidate. So whats the best on-road easily capable of 70+?

I'd go with a XRAY.

On a track like surface or parking lot? For somewhere there's no dirt, Xray T2 hands down. Otherwise, TC4.

He didnt specify anything on price. But judging by how many rc's he has maybe $500- $800 for the whole setup + car

i would go with a mamba since you can run 3s lipo on it.
if not serious racing, then the tc4 should work pretty well.

either the 3.5R or the 5700 mamba (you can run 3S on the 5700 and only 2S on the 7700, in the end the 5700 has a higher RPM rating and more torque) LRP neo 5 star should do the trick too.

Cool thanks. Just one more question. Are there any mods that should be done to the TC4 to handle this kind of power?

Rear CVDs should be replaced with metal ones, and get the metal outdrives for the rear diff, everything else stock.

i would say, take his nitro truck/car, with a 2speed tranny, and put in a high end fiego brushless, with a high-end/quality esc, and as many lipo's that that esc can handle, and make a motor mount in the nitro, and remove fuel tank, ending, and all extra servos, and mounts, and lighten it up, and that can hit 70 pretty easily, and the 2 speed tranny would help out alot
this guy at my track did it with his savage, and man, its sooo sweet, much faster accel than nitro, sooo light! also, its top speed is insane!!! in total, he prolly spent $1000, cuz of the truck cost to start, and the lipos, lipo charger, and burshless system, lol.

two speed trannies don't really work with electric motors.

They kinda work, like the emaxx. Low gear is pretty much useless unless your trying to crawl or go slow controllably though.

well, if geared correctly, and high enough power motor, its really worht it, i've seen it in person, u kinda have to make mods for it to work with the 2speed tranny, but he did it , and again, prolly not in your friends price range, a little over $1000

Yeah first I dont think its in his price range and second I dont think he wants to mod. He just sold his hyper 7 for $450 and bought two other nitro stadium trucks. He bought a xxx-nt and a traxxas nitro sport. The guy lied to him and both dont work so I convinced him to try electric. The thing that cought his eyes was a hyper 7 converted to a electric. He was amazed by its super high end speed

I think once he see's my electric mini that would finish him off and make him definatly get a electric TC4 with a novak 3.5R. I think he was only into nitros because of there speed out of the box. But once I showed him electrics capabilities that easily changed his mind .

TC4 comes with aluminum CVDs if you buy it new (the Team Kit). I would recommend the lightened steel outdrives from AE as well. I'm building mine with a Mamba Max 7700 as we speak - I'll let you know how it runs!

P.S. Note that with the steel outdrives, you need round diff rings as well (not the D shaped that come with it). That's whats holding me up at the moment...

I have obtained much higher speeds with 1/10 scale sedans of much lesser quality. If you can tune it and drive it in a straight line without crashing - Most any car will.

Biggest thing is bearings and not bushings. Second thing is the electronics and batteries.

On my Traxxis bandit on 6 cell GP3300 matched I can do almost 60. I have a radar gun for testing the speed of my RC's, But the Bandit wasn't design for flat out speed. On it I was running a BK Warrior 9918 ESC and a Hacker C40 6 Turn brushless motor. If the buggy would handle faster speeds, I think it could of reached 80 with more 2 or 4 more cells added. But to be honest I kept recking everytime shortly over 50MPh.

As for touring cars - My Colt10 was able to go faster with an air plane motor and creative gearing:
http://studysession.com/

If you want high power and speeds; I would not go Novak. It is good for beginners to brushless and they do have an easy setup programming. It is not the best option for what you are asking. Not sure how fast it is but right now I have my Hacker C40 6 Turn motor in my TT-01 with an MTroniks ESC. I am sure since it is lighter and I am running LiPo's it will be faster than my Bandit. Have to hop-up a few things before attempting a speed run with it. But as an all around basher/drifter it handles very well stock with bearings and shocks being my only hop-ups on it.
