Who said you are not supposed to use LiPo's with a stock E-Maxx?
That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Who ever agrees with the idea that you can't use LiPo in a stock E-Maxx, please let me know and give a reason so I can explain to you why that is not true.

whell i got the e-maxx and dispointed in it but it could be that im only uesing 1500 bats. going to get some 4200s hope they work better. i got the e-maxx to try to get away from nitro i got a jato 3.3 and if i stay close it runs good and when i get away from me it dies lol so i thought an e-maxx would not die but like i said im disapoinmance in the proformance of it

Wow I didn't know people were still using 1500 packs. Heck those things don't even run my hand starter well for my revo or tmaxx. I would say toss those in the recycling dump and pick up some nice 7cell saddle packs or even a couple of those really cheap 2500 lipos on ebay. you will see a hellofa difference

hhere ya go is a guy running anew emaxx on twin 7cells.This can give you real good idea . i did a lil more research on the lipo's and most peopl are saying dont do it for you fry the stock 550 motors . If you decide to go brushless then run the lipo.
look into the 7cell Ib batteries unless you have the older version then go 6ell

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gl5QLlvdY1Q
The 7 cell sare mor elikely to burn up the motors than the lipo, due to the higher voltage.

This is a good time for me to reiterate that my son is running 7 cells and dual 700 motors with the original EVX with no problems. I should state that we bought and installed the Novak cooling fan.

http://www.traxxas.com/PDF-Library/3905_manual.pdf go to page 17 it says

Not all batteries can be used in wet environments. Consult your
battery manufacturer to see if their batteries can be used in wet
conditions. Do not use LiPo batteries in wet conditions (note: the
EVX-2 is not LiPo compatible).

I charge my 4800 mah lipos at 4 amps. They are supposed to be charged at 1C rate. I am pretty sure on 4800mah lipos that would be 4.8 amps.

I don't get why the EVX2 is not LiPo compatible. DC Voltage is DC Voltage. Sure the LiPo will have less resistance than most NIMH batteries but that only means it will have a higher amp output. So if the EVX2 will run 14 cells at 16.8V then it should handle the 14.8V of two Lipos.

finedesingsrc makes waterproof lipos. Also The only reason they say not to use the lipos with the evx is b/c it doent have a lvc built in. It works fine with lipos

Edit: Venom nimh batteries are the worst I have ever tried! Stay away!!!

Low Voltage Cutoff

It stopps the batteries from dropping below 3volts per cell.

Novak makes some but I have been using this one for years

Hey Wheelnut i have looked everywhere and cant seem to find that diff spindle to lock out the diffs can you help a brother out . I need this darn thing bad !!
Oh yess one last question for everyon what gearing are you running
pin/spur

Im running a 16/66 I still cant get that sweet spot of speed .

I just want to find that real sweet gear combo that gives me top end and pulling power.

Oh wheelnut had a buddy lend me his custom 7cell 5200 batts this evening to run at a special deal at our church . My minister well he broke my steering for me !lol
He hit a door jam at full throtle and I had it cut back for him like all the way down to 30% lol Its all good he told me to get the parts and that he would pay for all my trucks that got broken by the kids tonight !! i took two 1/10th scale and then two 1/18th scale and came home with only 1 truck still in working order! lol Love the kids but darn are they hard on the trucks !!

No, it just locks the diff you put it in. People that get the spool usually put the it in the rear diff. It will not turn as good with the spool in. I have never heard of anyone putting the spool in the front.
