Yep you need to get the savage lst conversion kit then get a set of either integy or acnc shock towers . The beffier the better in my oppion. Now all let me share this with you these shocks do add some weight to the truck as well does the extra alum parts .
My truck weighed in at 12-13lbs at our last race. We weigh for pulling cant be over a certian weight .
I can get you a better pic under the hood !I hope these pics might help some for all of you. Oh let me share this with some of you this truck was for sale on Ebay . I bought it from a buddy of mine who built this truck . I am build a second one just like it but it is going to be brushless . This truck is the model blueprint for us . i know every part in this truck so far .
You can see a small lil stock brace part on the rear shock tower . I put that there for some extra support . I felt it needed a lil more support .
Take care
Big Brett

thanks for the pics they really help. However, im gonna leave this as my next project im working on getting 7cell speed with 6cells. So far ive taken alot of stuff out this is on the old emaxx by the way. So i lost the 2 speed, 4shocks, new reviever (airtronics mini one), geared up one tooth. and lastly RWD only. Now its crazy fast i incinerated the idler last night. Luckily i have the first gear idler. The idler gear burned out in one run. However, stopping distance is like 5 ft. My step is stoping sooner don't know what to do though. But next step involves buying stuff so tekno wing mount and ofna high downforce wing, remove bumpers and mounts, cut down the skids and lastly i need to run with a body. For my body i need new body post since mine at alot asphalt. Im looking at a proline hd body.

So what do you all think.

The larger the Number like 3400 -5000 determines your run times . A emaxx with 1500's yep would only last about 2-5 mins the truck is to big and heavy for thouse batteries . You need at least 2500 or larger . Stay away from cheap batts and go with something like the IE3800. These are good batts i have had a set going on two years and running strong . Go with something like this http://www.teamtrinity.com/shop/item.asp?item=TRI20175
Buy good batteries and you cant go wrong buy cheap play short !
Take care
oh and if you want some really good fun go to Lipo but you can spend about $100 a batt and then another $50+ on a charger.

cheapbatterypacks.com has some very cheap LiPos. I bought the Elite 4800mah's from them for $65.00 each and they run great with no problems and I am using dual 970's.

whell i got the e-maxx and dispointed in it but it could be that im only uesing 1500 bats. going to get some 4200s hope they work better. i got the e-maxx to try to get away from nitro i got a jato 3.3 and if i stay close it runs good and when i get away from me it dies lol so i thought an e-maxx would not die but like i said im disapoinmance in the proformance of it

Man Im telling you that the batts make a world of difference !! But there is a huge difference froma Jato and a Emaxx ! I ask you not to compare the two cause they are two different styles of trucks .
Well Ill say this if you dont want the emaxx anymore let me be the first to know please !! Ill trade ya out a savage for it or we can work out another deal.
Let me say this I have had nitro savages and brushless emaxx's and esavages by far my favorite is the Ep of a emaxx /Esavage.
You can ask anyone from the No Limit R/C Of Va guys and ask them if I can run with them against a nitro and they all well tell you heck yes . Im talking brushed stock motors with like a set of 3400IB or 4200IB . Now with the brushless they cant even compare but that is another whole box of worms .
I have been talking with castle creations about the new monster mamba max . I want that set up in my new emaxx so bad I can taste the green monster from here in Virginia.
Well all I can tell you try and get a newer set of batteries and I think you might be a lil happier oh and play with your pinions . stock is like a 16 or 18 so play a lil and try like a 20-22 and like a 13-15 it changes everything about the truck.
Good luck
BigBrett

the ib 4600's are going to be awsome in that truck !! now the thing about lipos is that you end up spending about 300$ total for you have to get a new charger unless you have one . but yes you can run lipos on the new evx speed controler .go to traxxas website and they can give you even more info on running lipos on the emaxx . or even go to you tube with emaxx's running lipo power

take care good luck man

hhere ya go is a guy running anew emaxx on twin 7cells.This can give you real good idea . i did a lil more research on the lipo's and most peopl are saying dont do it for you fry the stock 550 motors . If you decide to go brushless then run the lipo.
look into the 7cell Ib batteries unless you have the older version then go 6ell
