Thanks for very descriptive reply, i am just a beginner in the rc world. I have a HBX massive 4x4 brushless truck, it has the hex with pin inside, there is a lot of play in the front wheels plus one is shaking like crazy it needs balancing and i have no experience on how to do it. The car has a lot of power but looks like the parts are not up to it. Slowly i will replace em when thet wear out completely, i am getting a lot of help from this forum, thanks to everyone out there!
Do i still need the shim set or just balancing?

If they are lock nuts, there should be like a nylon washer type peice inside the nut. (Just incase you weren't familar with lock nuts. I didn't mean to make you feel ignorant, I just thought I'd put it in there just in case. 
) If they aren't lock nuts, then you NEEDto get some. I beleive they are 4mm lock nuts, but I suggest you check anyway before you buy some.

Thanks for the headsup ! I will look for that glue, i hope local ACE store has it.
And No there is no washer. Now i doubt the nuts are even lock type, maybe the are just regular nutS?

Hey,
Last week I built a straight edge plow for my 4x4 Cross Tiger. It was all stock and barely pushed any snow. So I put a brushless system in it and reformed the plow with a curve, a v-shape, and a new mounting system. I took the pictures before paint. I painted it a while ago, and it should be dry by tomorrow afternoon. I while I was waiting for it to dry, I took it out for a run. The first pics are a little bashing with brushless, and the second ones are the new plow.

both, start with shiming, once u get it all shimmed u can actially ballance those big wheels on the axles, just remove the dog bones.
I use to have a HBX rocket, from what i can see its the same just a buggy version?

might have to get my bonzer cranking again, I striped a diff cup and its sat since lol

Are tamiya parts compatible with HBX? Earlier DieHard has suggested me to use the TL01 gear mesh for my HBX, and robinson pinion? Can i use them with my motor, what about the Spur ?

Thanks! I haven't tried out the plow yet. Over here in Michigan, it's only 11:02 p.m., so my plow is still sitting out in the garage drying. 
Can't wait to try it out tomorrow! I was going to use a 3 CH and servo, but I don't have a 3 CH. I have a few good servos, but a 3 CH is on my To Buy list. Eventually, when I get a Savage XS Flux, it comes with a 3 CH and I plan on putting the plow on that. But for now, I am going to try it out with the HBX. I thought about pulling the tires off the rims, (Since their not glued on) and drilling holes down the center tread, and putting sheet metal screws in the holes with a nut, and havingthe head on the inside of the tire for more traction. Do you follow? 
I thought about this, and then I figured it may not be a good idea, because in the summer, when I'm running speed runs and bashing, those studs are going to rip and throw everything. I thought then, if I removed the screws in the summer, I'd have holes and thetires would fill up with dirt.
Sowhat do you guys think? Should I stud them? I'm sure if Idid, I would have no problem with traction?Wouldthe studs work in the summer?

The spur gear comes in the Tamiya gear set. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGL57&P=7Also with those gears, in order for the pinion to mesh right with the spur, the pinion has to be metric. I suggest you do a 19T, as they seem to be the best gear ratio. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXEX42&P=7Not all Tamiya parts are compatible, but the vehicles that have the most compatible parts are the TL-01 and the TT-01. The metric pinion should screw right on to your motor's shaft.

Kindly see the attached image, i dont see the 'highlighted' part in the Tamya gear sets that you had recommended earlier. And as for the Pinion, i also noticed the original HBXSpur and Pinion set has more teeths then the one you had recommended. Since i am new to this area could you explain a bit whats the ratio between pinon and Spur or is there a rule of thumb for pinon and spur selection?

Oh............ I didn't know you had that type of truck. Um.. Could you attach a picture of the truck you do have?
The rule of thumb for gear mesh, is you take a regular peice of printer paper, cut a strip about 4cm long, and 1cm wide. It doesn't have to be perfect. Then stick the peice of paper length wise into the gear mesh between the pinion and the spur. Then press the two gears together so the pinion moves to the correct position in the slot, and tighten down the screws. Roll the spur to roll out the peice of paper, and you have a perfect gear mesh. If it seems too tight or too loose, or if it's making a sound, then you either didn't pinch hard enough, or you pinched too hard. You can adjust it slightly by partially loosening one of the screws, then tapping the motor over a bit, and tighten the screw back up. Or you can just start all over with the peice of paper. Eventually you'll get it right. Maybe you'll get it the first time. The more you do it, the better you get at it.

I've been lurking around these posts on the hbx topic and found that my sons truck the iMex renegade is the same as the hbx massive. So I guess I can now say that we own an Hbx. :-)

Just rember this thread was for the HBX bonzer that is a clone of a Tamiya TL01b BajaKing, but HBX used monster truck wheels and a mt body.
99.9% of the parts are interchangeable, the only thing Is... HBX have a longer gear shaft and will not work with a Tamiya chassis
The HBX massive or rocket is not compatable at all with any Tamiya. Or even the bonzer

If its the lansu I wouldent have a clue if it's even possible to change there settings

Finally had a chance today to try out my snowplow! It plowed great, I'd say at an easy rate, it can plow 3-4" of snow. Here are some pics. (Below the deck was the only place that there was 2-3". Everywhere else was a foot or so.)

Bad news with the plow. My mounting arms are bending and the screws are coming loose, causing the plow to come closer to the truck. [:@] I'm going to have to put some 90* bends in the arms and I need to make them longer so I can make more of a V-shape. Also, as you can see, I couldn't push snow very far before the wheels started spinning. So what do you think? Should I put sheet metal screw studs in the center tread bead?
Also, should I make it a straight plow instead of a V? I thought about doing an angled plow but I figured that it'd push the front end over in the opposite direction of the snow. Before I can do anything more, I need some more sheet metal. [:@]

Yes you are right about the break part, actually the Controller that i have has three Throttle positions, 1) Accelerate 2) Neutral 3) Reverse. The break function is suppose to work when we move from accelerate to Reverse directly withouht going to neutral, which will actually activate Reverse not break and that is not good for the gears.
It looks the same motor only mine has a purplish body i am not sure if its a different model, as per HBXmanual and specs i am suppose to have a 2600KV motor but the Leopard specs says its 3600KV... i am not sure who is right?
The ESCi have is Lansu 90A!
