Default Traxxas Blue Eagle

This will be another restoration project! I love the shocks. Love the chassis. Love the shock towers. Love all the graphite. First things first is tearing it apart and cleaning everything and restore the chassis as good as i can.

I have a Traxxas Blue Eagle I purchased in 1991. I've thought many times about restoring it. Your project just may be the motivation I need.

A lot of the suspension doesn't look much different than the rustler. [8D]
So is it going to be a full rebuild like my bandit was?

Refresh me on your bandit...i forget. Sorry...hehehe. But, yes, ill take apart the whole truck piece by piece and clean everything making it look almost brand new. Rebuild the tranny and depending on the condition of the ball bearings...we will see if they need to be replaced. New rod ends on all turnbuckles. A custom battery holder and strap. New body mounts(possibly custom body mounts). New body. New rims and tires. Ill keep the shocks because I love the look, ill just rebuild them. Now, motor and esc? Hmmmm.....That will remain a secret

Yeah my bandit needed a lot of work. It still had bushings-- so I put in bearings and RPM carriers, new stub axles because the bushings wore them down, new output yokes (cracked), shocks were full of sand lol, new body, wheels, tires, and electronics!

I fitted t-maxx shocks to the rear suspension and put the bandit rear shocks on the front. Much better ground clearance and travel now. Shock socks and paddles make it a lot of fun at the beach! Did I mention it has my stampede's brushless system in it?

It only cost me $25 on ebay, but I spent almost $100 on parts!

The first two pics are stock suspension. The last one is with the t-maxx shocks in the rear. Night and day difference!

$25 dollars aint bad at all! Great deal and worth it for fun at the beach eh?

I was thinking of maybe a CVD kit that would be compatible with the Blue Eagle. Those sliding shafts dont hold very well under a high end power plant We will see...

You know what, i think its only a big problem with the older plastic. I have only broken those shafts on old vehicles. I completely ripped apart the shafts on my sledgehammer with the ss5800 system. But, my rustler has held up just fine and it has a mamba 7700!

Yeah I see what you're saying... The older plastic starts to dry out and lose its elasticity-- becomes brittle!

Heres some more pics. Damage is not that bad. Whoever owned this truck before used all kind of random screws to hold everything together The front bumper also has a big crack in it.

My bandit was the same deal... The hardware was kind of ghetto. There were less than 10 screws that were correct!
