Default It has arrived! (finally)

Awaiting for me at my front door when I arrived home today was a brand new Mamba Max 5700!

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on my tower order (deans, solder & iron, wheelie bar and spare spurs) and A123 battery packs to come in (Wednesday, I hope!) , so no test driving the mamba tonight!

That doesn't mean I can't unbox it and stick the motor in my pede, though!

Also waiting was my 90T spur, 12T pinion and 12mm hex wheel hubs (since I'm running front wheels all the way around).

Thats gonna be fun in the pede, I hope you have enough control to pull it out when the time comes. Do you have to solder the motor plugs to the esc yourself? The one heatshrink looks messed. Also have you had any problems with that widepede mod? I'm hesitant to try it because I think cutting out the webbing will weaken it more than I want.

They are banana plugs.

No I didn't have to solder anything to the ESC in those pics. There are two bare wares (already coated with solder, I might add) where you solder your plug of choice (deans in my case).

I don't see any heatshrink tubing messed up like your pointing out, the bare black wire looks a little dirty from when the solder was applied to the wire, but theres no heat shrink tubing on it yet.

Sorry, that just looks like you melted a hole in heatshrink.

No, that's where they leave the end of the wire bare for you to solder your own end on. It just looks weird because of the angle of the picture and the way the black/red wires are crossing.

Here's a better picture:

(used the phone to hold the wires down and make them easier to seperate :P)

How do you like your rear arm widening. Will you let us know how the widening performs with the maba?

Do you notice the arms being weaker than they should?

Im doing the same thing soon and would love to hear how yours works.

Thanks

Ah thanks, I understand now, the battery wire end looked to me as part of the banana plug.

I love the rear arm widening. In my opinion the parts I had to cut out to move the shocks inside the arm had no affect on the strength of the arm. I put this thing through hell and no signs of stress where I had to cut some of the webbing out of the arms, or anywhere on the arms for that matter.

For me it performs great, no more flipping when turning, and it's cool watching one wheel lift up when you turn and goose it, and that's with a 6-cell on a titan.

I posted a thread a while back on how mine turned out, look back a few or 10 or 20 pages or so.

Nashville is a decent midway point between us, but I don't know the Nashville area at all, only drove through there on the way to Chattanooga or stop by the Opry Mills mall.

Know of any gravel pits in or around Nashville?

Here's some footage I shot yesterday, didn't get much because I managed to finally eat through the stock spur gear (that's the sound you hear at the end).

I'll probably extend the video and do a "before mamba" and "after mamba" sorta thing. We'll see how much footage I can capture this weekend.

Yeah the 12T is for pure torque. I'm going to start with the lowest and slowly gear up as I get used to the power of the system.

Yea I did the opposite. I geared for top speed and tried gearing down for fun and as soon as I did, I stripped my idle gear. Everything was perfect until I geared down.

I suggest gearing up right away because the Mamba system is extremely powerful and it inflicts so much stress on your Pede.

Beautiful truck BTW.

Well, I do race mine mainly on asphalt as to make it a drag monster right now but regardless, though it's geared for top speed, the thing is hard to keep from doing wheeleis. It'll flip on its back at the beginning, in the middle, and in the end if I don't feather the throttle or adjust the punch via USB interace.

I don't see why people are saying my truck looks so awesome, it's filthy and it's pretty much just a stock xl-5 with the front widened.

I really think the stock 2.8" XL-5 wheels are what make the truck look so completely awesome. I'm expecting the extended aluminum chassis for christmas, but if it's not under the tree somewhere then I'll have to order it next year. I want one of those sweet lookin F-350 MAXX bodies and some anaconda's on the pede 2.8" wheels, then I will think the truck looks beautiful

The old Pedes were quite ugly but yea, you're right, the new rims rock.

I'm going to stop spending money on it right now because I love the way it is.

Are you going to run li-po?

Not Li-Po, but the A123 Li-Ion cells.

I got two of the 9.9v 3s1p packs and 10amp charger on the way along with a 12v 10amp power supply.
