Default RE: Tex's Wild Willy Restoration Project

Just picked up the first WW1. So far it's exactly as i figured it would be. The tires are rotted so those will get tossed. The second WW1 has better tires so hopefully they will be usable. If not I'll try to find a new set, they seem pretty easy to get.

The shell is in good condition, but I was surprised to see the fron grill missing. It wasin't in the pic so I am not to worried about it. Someone made an aluminum grill to put in it's place. It's crude, but doesn't look bad. It's coming off though. I think I might get a WW2 grill and use that. I am not being super picky here, just happy to have a WW1 running in good shape. Aside from that the only damage on the shell is the rear panel tab for the body screw. I simple washer and some CA can fix that.

There are some warn areas which is to be expected and one front hub looks stripped. The sipension is n great shape and none of the main chassis parts are cracked. I don't have time to get it all apart today, but here what I have done so far.

Looks like some defects in the gear case injection mold or maybe someing corrosive got on it?(see pics)

Hopefully that's the case!

I took the other gear out so I have the missing piece in this picture. So far everything looks ok there, juts lots of dirt.

Ya, what do you think is going to be the best cleaner for the gears. I was thinking a toothbrush and dish soap.

I wonder what size bearings these are on the front and rear hubs? They are massive.

Doesn't hurt to replace 20 years old bearings anyway.. if you can find some new ones that it is..
