A123 batteries are here!
.. but no charger.. cry!
Trying desperately to reach A123 to see what the deal is.. no response to e-mails so far and no phone number to reach them.
*sigh*
I really wanted to do some test runs with these in my pede.
Anyways, here's the pics!

I would recommend a stronger velcro strap - Pick up a Gorillamaxx one - yours looks like its going to break! Looks like an awesome set up though!

RE: A123 batteries are here!
It was *SUPPOSED* to come with the charger, but they apparently forgot to put it in the box or shipped it seperately and didnt tell me.
They are Li-Ion batteries, 3.3v per cell, but are tolerant from 1.0 to 5.0v per cell, so you don't need a LVC and don't have to worry about overcharging.
The charger that comes with them charges at 10A so they packs are fully charged in 15-20 minutes.

RE: A123 batteries are here!
The A123 cell can stand being discharged to 1 volt per cell if not left discharged that low and ca be charged to 4.2 per cell but that will shorten their life.
Noraml range is discharged to 2.0 per cell and charged to 3.6 per cell.
I run a 3 cell A123 packin my Rustler ,Mamba Max 5700 setup and with no LVC when the pack dumps resting (no load) voltage is 8 volts (2.66 per cell) and the pack takes 2200 plus to recharge.
I use a modified Astro Flight 109 charger and purchase DeWalt 36 Volt packs from E Bay and strip the cells from tmem. 10 cells for approx. $100.
For those who need a simple solution for use with their existing chargers

RE: A123 batteries are here!
hey the ICE can charge li-ion!
The a123 systems are awesome, although Im not sure why you chose for the ackward hump style versus the regular a123 stick pack.

RE: A123 batteries are here!
I wanted the 3s so I could run the higher voltage without worrying about the turbo module.
The 1p packs already have a low capacity and runtime is kinda important for me being a basher, and the 2s2p starter kit with turbo was just too costly for me to justify to the fiance'.
So, the 3s1p starter kit pack was just the right balance of cost and performance for me.

Yeah, but the Ice is nowhere near as nice as the Xtrema.

Anyway I looked on their site and the battery I wanted to get was the 2S2P with the turbo thing. I wanted to get 2 so that I could use it on my emaxx as well and run on 16.8V and then switch to my TA05 and run 7.2V on a single pack. Well that would cost $280 so it's a little out of my budget, if you know what I mean! lol

RE: A123 batteries are here!
Finally, the charger is here!
These batters are freaking AMAZING! They charge in half the time of my nimh packs and pack a whole lot more punch! I had to tone the mamba down so much, lowest timing, 50% punch control and i STILL can barely keep the front wheels on the ground.
Also figured out over the weekend my slipper clutch was put together incorrectly (my bad), so there was no "slippage", thus two weekends wasted because I kept eating through spur gears every jump. That's fixed now, so hopefully I can get some good video footage this week since I'm off work until next Tues.
While playing around tonight I slid and the rear end hit a curb, snapping one of the rear camber links... so a quick trip to the LHS and while looking at my options I thought to myself.. "Hey Self, I bet we can put Jato camber links on the back!". Sho nuff, I got Jato camber links front and rear now, looks sweet!
Pics, as always:

Well my workbench is about 4 foot deep and a good 5 foot tall, I'm 6'4 and I have to stand on my toes to reach back there to unclip those from the PS, so nothing is going to be touched by accident.

RE: A123 batteries are here!
man, do you know how awesome it would be to find a place we could meet up and race....
your pede with the mamba and the a123 cells
vs
my Pede SSSE with the mamba and the maxamps 3s lipo
looks good. enjoy running those and defiantly let us know how it works out.
