Check "evil" - bay for a seller named Team CRP. They are still selling those old school CRP front shock upgrades for the Tamiya Frog. I believe the would fit the Tamiya Frog Re-release version.

Im stumped which one to get...Frog or a Hornet. Id like to get a new Tamiya RC for my birthday but
dont wanna spend too much money...Hornets are very cheap and they are tough as nails too...
I remember how strong those cars were in the 80's, people would hit the wall and the car would shrug it off..
If you had a choice between a Frog or Hornet which one would you pick?

Hornet is more basic, Frog is more advanced.. both are classic... can't go wrong either way.. !

Took the Frog out for a little snow bashing on Sunday after some more restorations (re-brushed my Yokomo stock+ motor, re-soldered the motor wires, put in the CRPrear supports, resintalled the rubber boots over the new CVD's and repainted the driver figure). What fun. I sealed up the receiver in a balloon, and let loose on the driveway, yard and street. Donuts, drifts, power slides and some mini-snow-plowing galore. Having never really used an ESC in a buggy before, I can really appreciate the brake function and how it saves me from tearing up the gearbox during power slides. I had forgotten how well these old things go.

After going through a pack, I brought her in to dry out and make sure everything was OK. All systems still go. Looking forward to another run...

bah.

I spent a couple of hours last night rebuilding and banging the gearbox side panels with a hammer/socket and got nowhere. Runs fine in reverse, now goes forward as opposed to staying still but it still sounds like tearing paper. Any hints?

Wish I could help, but I have the same problem. Already tried the socket trick, same result as you. In my case, it just got worse over time - the first time I tried the socket trick, it helped, but not anymore.

When you reassemble the gearbox, does the diff assembly still shift side to side? If so, you need to keep working at it and keep tapping on the side panels. If this still doesn't work, then it may be time for new gearbox sides. I've seen several Frog metal parts bags for sale on eBay. Not too pricey.

Try a screw extractor...

Or you need a new knuckle if you can't get the broken off stud out...

Not sure why you need the "vintage" ones unless you are doing some type of true restoration.. just to get it running, just get the current production uprights from Tamiya:

http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...uct-id=9808036

$9 for a pair.. get a couple of sets then you will have spares.. and still cheaper then the eBay price..

Searched on Ebay and that is all I came up with. The Tamiya site is a lil vague....so I did not go there to look. Thanks!

Look up the part # from your manual and then you can search it on Tamiya website... that way you know you get the exact part you needed.. !

Have fun!
