Default The official UNOFFICIAL thread of Tamiya Frog - LB strikes again!!

Seems like everyone wants to put the word "OFFICIAL" on their thread, so I figured I'd start an official UNOFFICIAL thread.. LOL!

The first race worthy buggy (hey, this is 20+ yrs ago) from Tamiya.. figured that I'd add this to my collection, next to my Hornet! It has the classic buggy good look.. Looking forward to the kit to arrive shortly!!

Not that many differences between the vintage one and the new re-release.. here's one of them.. dogbone = much more durable..

For those who wants to run standard 12mm hex wheel (i.e., modern wheel, LOL!), Tamiya sells the adaptor....

I actually got a set that I am using on the Lunchbox right now.. might need to get another set.. although, I think those small spike tires (same as the Hornet) looks great w/ the Frog!

Yes! I'm the first to reply to LB's thread!!!
EDIT: I just posted that ^ so i could be the first to reply to a many paged thread (because all of LB's threads are like that ).
Anyways, my friend has a Frog. He's actually on these forums (spiftacu1ar). His Frog is original, it looks pretty neat!

so when do you think it'll come in? I love tamiya kits but I don't want to order one until I am in a comfort zone in the hobby whereas I can buy things I won't use

Yeah, they are almost identical other than the body, body mounts, and the wheel/tires..

I just like the classic buggy look better.. and it is $20 cheaper, ha!! LB = cheap!

Three minutes later and I would've missed the opportunity of a lifetime!
BTW, is that Toyota Truck Tamiya coming out? That's gotta be my favorite of the old ones. What's it called, the Bruiser or something?

Ya I think they both look good and I'm deciding if I should get a mini or the brat (hopefully parents will let me get one of them) thats coming out but do you think it will go any cheaper since it has dropped some since they announced it. I hope. LOL I'm also cheap kind of but mostly just I'm a kid with not a lot of money lol.

I'd expect the Brat to drop another $10-15 after a couple of months...

The pic I posted above is the Subaru Brat.. it has the same chassis as the Frog..

It is unlikely that Tamiya will re-release the Bruiser (that's the Toyota truck you are talking about) as it is made of mostly cast metal and they probably outsourced those when they made it a long time ago.. so it will be hard for them to re-release it..

Also, they just came out with the F-350 Hi-Lift last year.. which is pretty much the successor to the Bruiser..

I wouldn't drop the Mamba in there. The components on that car are very exposed. You'd also have a heck of a time wiring if you put the driver in.
