Default Mamba Max Questions

Hey all this thread is just to answer questions people have in regards to the mamba max systems. On all of them,4600,5700,6900,7700.

I will start with the first one,
What is the max temperature the mamba max ESC can handle before something bad happens??
Also is it normal for the ESC to run a little warmer than the motor??

I'm not sure of the max esc temp but ill just stay away from 200degrees. I think that the esc running warmer is normal as the same thing happens to me. my question is that I noticed my esc and motor tend to be cooler when running fast versus running slow(10%) is this normal, can anyone explain?

The Mamba Max ESC has thermal protection at 240-260 degree range.
Motors are good up to 200 degrees.

The esc runs hotter at slower sppeds because IN lamens terms It has to burn off power to run slower. At wide open throttle the juices flow straight to the motor with little gateway.

thanks cause at first I was worried. also with the mamba, if I wanna pop wheelies do I need to gear lower? I run stock b4 spur(84t I think) on a 24t pinion, if so will an 18t pinion be better to pop wheelies

i noticed that today, i was messing around but not running hard, and it got warm, i had my fingure on it for more than 5 seconds so i know i was good. then i started to run harder and it seemed to run cooler. weird but i guess you explained it, thanks on your answers and quick response.

yes the lower the pinion the more torque you have the faster the acceleration, so yes it should wheelie.

Dude I'm running a 12/81 gear set right now on a 7700 and It'll pop a wheelie on wet concrete with 7 Cells. So yeah I'd say gear down. 24T is good for parking lots. Any cogging with a 24T?
Mine did something horibble. Once geared down it runs fine. And still has loads of spidey speed.

Them heavy dirt hawgs up front probably arent helping you very much either. get a 15 or lower tooth pinion. you'll be Impressed.

ok I think I got a 15 lying around. also I can put my stock tires on if it realy helps. I only got the front dirt hawgs so my buggy will be more stable. ill try to make a vid showing the differ of gearing high and low so people can see

If you want to go faster use the 8 cell.

You'll be popping wheelies no matter how your geared if you run a lipo!

I would run lipo's if you whant to 50+ runs. I have the 5700 in my bandit and sometimes run it on 12 venom 3000 cells, not sure how fast it is but it's pretty uncontrolable and heats up real fast and it's heavy with those 12 cells. I should have my maxamps 3s 5000hv 20c lipo tomorrow. I am expecting 60+ mph runs with that hopefully after I finnish trimming a lot of fat off my bandit and get the steel mip cvd's. Anyway I doubt you will pull off 50mph using 7 or 8 cells even if they are like the best IB4200's. But I have never used that high of quality of a battery. I think you will need a lipo in order to go that fast and have any kind of run times. But I'll keep you posted my lipo will be here tomorrow and I ordered 6 IB 4200 matched cells to make a flat pack that should be here Thursday. And if you are not going to go lipo at least get very good quality IB 3600 or 4200 packs or I think you might be dissapointed. I tried running my new Mamba Max 5700 on 1-6 cell venom 3000 pack and it wasn't much faster than the titan 12 turn and xl-5 set-up I had in there before. Check this link out at the bottom it has a speed chart on how fast they will go on different batteries. http://www.beatyourtruck.com/prodreview-mambamax.html

I geared my t2 at 20/87 with an IB4200 6 cell and it runs around 50 mph... and it runs at decent temps.

I have a question. Is it normal for there to be a little play in the motor shaft? I mean if I push it in and out it moves a little, probably just like 1/16 of an inch or something. I know all my brushed motors do this but I didn't notice this when I put it in the car but I was in a hurry to get it going so I probably wasn't paying close attention to that. Oh and as far as temps my esc never hits over like 130, but the motor will get up to 150 after 5 or 10 min. then I let it cool down. I'm running a bandit with 15/50 and maxamps 3s 5000hv 20c and it is rediculously fast. I toasted a set of pro-line road rage tires in one session. I had to get a wheelie bar as soon as I got the lipo's, I can be running like 3/4 throttle and punch it and it stamds up no problem[X(].

You must be running the 7700 then? I've never used IB cells yet but I can't see my bandit hitting 50mph with 6 cells of anything? How do you know, you got a gps? Lets see the video!

What gearing should I use then with that.

7700kv X 7.2 = 55440 RPM
Gear low and go up if you feel you have to much acceleration and too little top speed. Gearing involves a lot of trial and error.

Now I have a Mamba Max question. I'm going to get a 2S LiPo and I was wondering if the Mamba Max has some kind of built-in LiPo cut-off for when the cells get <3.0V or if I have to buy my own cut-off module.
