RE: M04 vs M03
The MO4 is rwd, the MO3 is fwd. Essentially it's down to the driving dynamics you prefer. The fwd will give you dependable understeer, but may snap into lift off oversteer when you come off the power. The rwd will give you oversteer on the power, but a better line in the corners with often higher limits depending on setup.
Fwd tends to be very much a 'point and squirt' machine, where as rwd you can get away with steering with the throttle. (in my experience with 1/10th size anyway, in full size both drivetrains rely heavily on throttle input to control cornering attitude)

RE: M04 vs M03
I am considering getting the M03 next month or so. Figure get it with bearings and and maybe few other hop-ups. I like like the Tamiya kits and been wanting something that is FWD to try out.
This months RC Driver has the M03 with the Suzuki Swift body and a Mamba 7700. Nice write up for the article. I now definately want one. First have to finish the Hummer kit that just arrived.
