Rustler speed?
How fast would a stock rustler go with a 1800 MAH 6 Cell NiCd? Looking at getting one of these and there seems to be a good deal on ebay.

RE: Rustler speed?
Well I beleive it says that in order for it to get to 35 you have to run a 7-cell battery and change your gearing...Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: Rustler speed?
Yea, I have a budget of $250 so I dont think I can do a new motor. I will mostly be offroad, jumping, and stuff like that so it needs to have power. I am used to nitro so I don't want to get something too much slower. Anyway is $250 enough for the car a 7 cell battery and a charger. The car is $180 at my LHS.

RE: Rustler speed?
Don't mean to jump in on your thread but I just came across this motor and was wondering if it would be a good upgrade?

RE: Rustler speed?
I think you need to find a different truck. The rusty can be one bad azz truck but it takes money. I have an all aluminum drive train and stuff that beefs it up a bit and can run for weeks with a parts failiar. On the other hand it took me hundreds of dollars to get here and it cost me prolly more than that in broken parts to keep it going while I was getting here. Anyway I'd just get and associated or Losi and forget about those issues by buying a proper truck for your needs.

Hey monstarusta, Do you have the new rustler or the old. Cause I saw the one in your image under your screen name and it looks like the old is better. It says on the website that the rustler only goes 35 mph with the upgraded pinion gear for the motor which is included. I am also looking into buying one of these cause I can get it for 149 at hobbytron. later

RE: Rustler speed?
OK here is a quick breakdown of my setup.
Rustler XL5......169.99
Pirahna Digital Charger.....49.99
GP 3300mah.....24.00
That=243.98
Thats a pretty good start. After that when some more money comes into the picture check out RPM upgrades very fairly priced. I have their oversized casters and all arms and spent maybe 50.00. If no more money comes into the picture you wouldn't be able to fix any breaks anyway so I wouldn't even worry about it. Hope this helps.

RE: Rustler speed?
Alright, that is very helpful. I think i'm going to get the rustler. Sounds like a good deal.
Edit: And by the way these trucks are bash worthy right? I am looking to get away from having a truck that breaks every time I look at it.

RE: Rustler speed?
All of those prices came of the towerhobbies website. That dosen't include the shipping I would check your local hobby shop first. Sometimes they are cheaper.
It takes a fair bit of bashing the only times I've broke mine is when I turn to quick in the street roll a couple times and bust the cambers. Other than that really haven't broke much else.

Yeah my hobby shop has got all of that stuff, I will just save a little extra $$$ and save the wait of shipping and buy it there.

RE: Rustler speed?
Yeah, my plan was to sell my current car to get the rustler, buy the rustler and maybe the charger and save up for a good battery. And then eventually I may go brushless.

RE: Rustler speed?
I just bought this battery from Ebay, and it brought the trruck to life all stock with the stock pinion that comes installed. It flies now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...8217&rd=1&rd=1
Thats the battery I would get, and it is really really fast.

RE: Rustler speed?
A higher turn motor generally has more acceleration but a lower top speed. I own 3 Rustlers (for each kid) and run 7-cell NIMHs on all three (the max voltage that the ESC will handle) and with the stock gearing they are extremely fast. I have no way of measuring the speed, but I would say they do at least 35 mph. My boys can barely control them set up like this. My batteries cost an average of 55.00 each on E-bay...

RE: Rustler speed?
Yea, I read your thread on that battery bry21317 and it sounds pretty good, it says 40MPH on that ebay auction, thats almost as fast as my nitro that hates life.
