Default J Concepts BJ4 Thread

Figured id start my own thread since nobody has started a thread about this car yet.
I really wanted one of these cars, until i found out stick packs will not work, and id have to
learn how to build my own batteries. This car is just so sweet looking!
A guy at the track has one and never intends to race it. [&:]
I guess since it has a 450.00 price tag and it doesn't even come with tires..[:@]
Think about it you can buy almost 4 tamiya dark impacts for that?
I still may have one one day...we'll see..

Cool thread! Finally! Here is a picture of my BJ4WE.

I have been using Cavalieri's Cactus setup lately. I am using lipos but added weight in the rear. The picture in my avatar is of the BJ4WE too. Here is another picture

I don't own one but I think that they are awesome rc's and that is an amazing bj4 mattnin. is that a factory team kit or did you just buy that carbon fiber and aluminum aftermarket? what motor are you running? and what lipo's?

No, that is a stock BJ4 WE. They all come with carbon fiber, aluminum bulkheads, hinge pin, steering knuckles, etc... About the only parts you can really buy to hop it up are the front one way and center one ways and other race setup parts like front knuckles for caster changes or rear knuckles for toe-in changes and 0deg anti squat, sway bars. They come out of the box ready to race.

That was a Novak GTB 5.5r used with maxamps 4400mah saddle packs. I am using the same batteries along with the mamba max 7700kv now or same ESC paired with a checkpoint 19t money motor for sportsman open races.

The only thing bad about the worlds edition kit(motor screws are hard to access).
Seems like that is what he said, pre-assembled kit.
The picture i have above is the original BJ4 not the worlds, i like them both though.[8D]
You can buy the original BJ4 for 450 or the worlds edition for 25 dollars more.
I wonder if they still have a waiting list for the worlds edition.[&:]

The BJ4 worlds does not come pre-assembled and with no electronics. It comes with all the aluminum and carbon fiber you see though.

The motor screws are a little hard to access, but if you get a ball tip hex driver it is no problem at all.

Ebay has a few on there, but being 350.00 you might as well buy a brand new one.
I snagged a few pictures off ebay to post on here. Enjoy!

Yes I race my gravel hound(backup buggy just in case the dark impact has problems running), and
my dark impact. Practically dominated novice/sportman electric last year with a sport-tuned setup in my gravel hound.
Won 7 times in a row!! I try not to make mistakes since im an adult racer.

as long as you don't do what I did last friday at race night directly in front of all the pros that are really good, I set my b4 down in between races to practice and tune anything that was out of whack and I floored it straight into a pole and cracked the a-arm[:@] I was mad,but the guys there are really nice and they helped me out alot when I first started racing and they still do help me out alot. no tmany people must have bj4's it seems like.

Yea, BJ4s are a bit rarer because they are made from a small shop actually. But their parts are fairly easy to get. First of all, the carbon fiber just does not break. Maybe your shock tower if you wreck really bad, but it all holds up together really well. Almost all the other parts are Associated and Losi standard parts, so you can just get them at your LHS. Even the A-arms from a B4 can be used on the BJ4 in a pinch, although Jconcepts make heavy duty A-arms for the BJ4.

AE did not make anything for the BJ4. However, JConcepts has a really good relationship with AE.

Yeah alot of people say it's not that hard to build, because it's basically a B4 that's 4wd, because associated didn't have plans to
make one, so they allowed Jconcepts to build it for them. Man I wish i had one...[:@]

I have built a bunch of kits, and I gotta say that the BJ4 kit was the easiest to put together. I couldn't believe it. I normally set aside about 10 hours per kit to put together, and the BJ4 took maybe 4-5 hours. That still may seem like a lot of time but I am very careful on how I build because I want it done right the first time. Just make sure to loctite all metal to metal screws.
