A replacment for Methanol in Nitro fuel ??
Hello everybody !
This is my first post here..
I wish from expert to help me solving my problem.
We moved to Saudi Arabia and i found that Nitro fuel for my buggy is hard to get comparing to Kuwait.
Also it’s impossaible to import it due to air regulations .. what i knew is that it’s made of 3 major compositions : Metahnol, Nitro methen & oil , the Methanol cannot be found also here while the the 2 others are avialable ..
Anybody got in idia for a replacment for the methanol so i can make my own nitro fuel ?
If i used a cologne with 80% conc. Of alcohol would it at lease work even with it’s poor construction having know that water is there ?
Any thought’s ??

Otherwise, do not use cologne! The water will kill your engine. How about propanol, or ethanol? There's definitely some isopropyl alcohol (an isomer of n-propanol) around! Use castor oil.

Just convert your car to electric or sell it and buy an electric. Yes, it means buying new equipment, but it is cheaper in the long run and a good brushless setup will smoke any nitro.

Methanol replacement = LiPo & Brushless Motors......sorry I couldn't help myself posting after this thread somehow resurfaced after 7 years in electric forum...again. Maybe someone should just move this thread into the nitro section. My response was meant to produce a smile/chuckle.

Whatever you say some people still love nitro cars and will never ever switch to electric :S
