New Academy 2wd Buggy

RE: New Academy 2wd Buggy
The design is similar to most major 2wd buggies... Losi, AE, and Kyosho all use that basic design layout. Albeit, each company has their own unique design features... but in general, they are all similar. You could even say that most modern 2wd buggies share similar qualities to the old school associated gold pan buggies. The layout worked back then, and still works now. We just have lighter/stronger materials to work with now days.
This looks good. I wonder if you can use the rear arms, hubs, cvd's, and shocks from the sb sport buggies. they look very similar. Also, the shock towers should be plastic. If academy follows suit with the rest of their r/c's the alloy parts will be purple.

RE: New Academy 2wd Buggy
- Threaded shocks with bladders that can be flipped upside down for a more conventional emulsion type shock feel.
- Variable length suspension geometry front and rear
- no e-clips (captured hingepins)
- 27.5 kick-up with bellcrank matching the same angle
- vertical ball studs on the front and rear bulkheads
- rear axle will accept the ACADEMY hex rear rim, along with Team Associated b4 rear rims, Losi xxx rear rims and Proline rear rims.
- Front axle will accept the ACADEMY metric front bearing/rim, but.....there will be an additional ASE sized axle included so that Team Associated B4 front rims, and Proline B4 rims can be used as well.
- Other features cannot be discussed at this time.

Doesn't look to far off from the DT-02 chassis offered by Tamiya also. It almosts seems like you are playing the name game when it comes to R/C cars nowadays. Everything looks alive.

The hubs and arms are different geometry. The universals are the traditional ACD style, the shocks will be the same expect NOW they will be threaded for easier adjustment. Shock towers are plastic but will be made out of the new HARD material, and YES the aluminum parts will be anodized Purple.

RE: New Academy 2wd Buggy
really Schumacher purple??? I think I just saw a can of that on my local Ace Hardware.... thinking of painting my office in that color... LOL....
I didn't know a company was allowed to "claim" an anodizing color. Well then I here-by delcare "Taupe" as my offical anodizing color... (they say taupe is very soothing...) So now every alloy Taupe part that you see, will forever more be known as "Pvt_pile Taupe"....[&:][&:][&:]
No seriously, I don't care who claims what color for their anodizing. As long as the parts function to spec, I don't care what color it is.

RE: New Academy 2wd Buggy
I assure you that I am not Shawn. However he floats around here sometimes but generally he is at RCGroups. If you come to iHobby this year I will introduce myself and let you see Shawn and I in the same room at the same time. I only said that because I bust Robin's chops about the purple all the time. I am glad to see that you are willing to have fun here.
PS I dont work for Schumacher either. Just in case you wanted to call me Paul or Tim or.................. you get the point.
