RE: Thinking about a DI
A friend of mine had one and use to race/bash it at my track the buggy didn't perform bad for a cheap buggy but still had so many short comings he retired it. It held up we when using a brushed motor the only problem was that my track is dusty and the front tires flung all that dirt into the end bell. You can imagine about how long the motor would last with all that dirt in the brushes. He put a Mamba Max in it only to find it would make it about 2 hard races before the very soft aluminum gear on the slipper clutch would wear out and grind the gears up. He bought a SV2 when they were on sale for $109 put used Losi shocks on it and has been much happier.
If you want a buggy to play around with its OK for the money but for more power and racing there are better out there. By the time you by the DI add the $30 slipper, ~$40 shocks, and turnbuckels you could have almost bought a much better buggy. The Laser ZX5 can be had new for $275 the Academy SV2 is even cheaper but has poor shocks and there are a ton of used Losis on Ebay.
