Updating/Upgrading Clodbuster
I was wondering if the old Clodbusters can be converted to the newer brushless stuff I've been reading about, and if so what parts am I supposed to be looking for? Thanks. If anyone has done this to their Clodbuster or similar vehicle what did you do? Thanks.

RE: Updating/Upgrading Clodbuster
is this just general offroading around? I probably wouldn't put anything faster then the XBR line. These clods aren't the best at handling so having too much speed will be dangerous.
whatever system you get. you will need 2 systems, and one that is reversible

Yeah...just for general...I'm not worried about reverse if I don't need it. I just want something much, much, much better than what I have already. If I can get it close to TMaxx speed that would be good also. Thanks.

no no. you need a brushless system that is reversible because the axles are facing opposite directions. one runs forward and the other runs backward.

I could be wrong but isn't the F350 body the same one (but more detailed) that came on the Tamiya Juggernaut? That thing is almost exactly the same size as the Clod.
EDIT: According to Tower Hobbies the F350 body is 17.7" long, and 6.5" wide. I just measured my stock Clodbuster body and it measures 17.5" (not including bumpers) and 7" wide. The F350 body would fit fine.

As for the brushless system I'm almost certain I've seen it done before. I'd suggest either asking at one of the rc truck sites (rcmt.net is great) or calling Novak and see what they recommend.
EDIT: I've done a quick search on google and from what I've read you'll need a sensorless brushless system so that you can swap the leads on the front motor to reverse it. You would also have to reverse the timing on the front motor as well.
Novak does have a brushless system that is reversible but I dont know if it's made anymore. You would need two complete systems to make it work.
