Default Pede Motor Mounts Indented, Need Help!

Well, I stripped my last 86T spur gear, went to my LHS, and they only had 76T Spurs. So it turns out that I now need to slide the motor closer so the pinion and spur can meet, problem is the screws have been in one spot since I got it, so it left a dent. Now when I go to tighten the screws where I need them, they slide back down to the dent. Can anyone help me please?

Thanks!

Here is a couple of relatively simple solutions and at the bottom a link to a more in-depth solution. Just using washers would probably be the easiest route.

Going from an 86t to a 76t is a huge change in gear. You should keep an eye on the temps.

I took a large washer the size of the front of my motor and drilled two holes in it to make my own motor mount plate.

found a washer and it is working great now, havn't run it yet do to some wet weather, stupid south FL. But yeah, I know it's a big difference, I got a higher pinion to make up for some of it. I will definitly keep my temp gun handy though Thanks for the help all!

Thats what I was thinking, I went down 6-8 teeth once and my motor got so hot I felt unconfortable running it. Pinion might help though.
