Default New TRF Shocks?

I just got my set of TRF's in today. I noticed a few differences between them and the set that I already had. One being that the shafts look like Titanium Nitrade. The other was that the shock bodies are black, with blue anodized caps. The adjustment rings are pretty nice. The only thing that seemed wierd, was that they retaining cups are made out of plastic instead of aluminum like my previous TRF's.

I may take a couple pictures during the build if there's interest in it.

I got it finished a few hours back. I'll go ahead and get some pics up before I head to bed.

Well I've got them installed. They are really sharp looking, and very smooth. For my M03 I'm running 3 holes in the front, 2 in the rear and 35W oil all the way around. Now since the springs that come with them are a little too long for the M03 I had to use my springs from the stock oil dampers that come with the M03R. These are definately some of the best shocks I've ever seen.

On a side note. I really like the adjustment collars on these. I think I may order a couple sets for my Xray's.

I run my M03 really low for racing on the track. If your M-class has ever flipped over then its way too high. I learned that pretty quickly. I'm waiting for my ball diff at the moment. Raceday is this Sunday. Woot!

i have a few sets of TRF shocks and retainers have always been plastic, i know they are available as a hop up though, and yours are by far the coolest looking!

I have never ran it on a surface w/ traction high enough to flip over!!

Oh yeah, I have silvercan in my M-03.. ha ha ha!! i.e., not super fast! (does have the blue TRF shocks, though.. ha! w/ the stock yellow springs) I am thinking I should find some short springs...

We run silver can and black can, depending on the race. I've found that RCmart, or Stellamodels both have all the correct springs.

Anyway for you to take a pic of the springs that came w/ your TRF vs. the short spring?

Because when I built mine, I know my TRF shocks come w/ spring that's the same length as the one that came w/ my M-03M.. which, comes w/ different shocks than your M-03R, I am sure...

Of course, I'll get a shot of them side by side this afternoon.

Here ya go. As you can see the springs that came with my TRF shocks are pretty long.

Thanks!! I think I should get some shorter springs!! Ha!

Did you put some spacers inside to limit the down travel?!

Nope, left them stock. If it affects handling at all I may come back and put a few extra orings inside the shock body on the shaft. Stock configuration called for 1 oring. I put anti swaybars on the front and rear tonight. That should help to prevent either side from extending too much.

My M-03M is having some setup issue.. if you push down on one of the front shocks, say left one, the right rear would leave the ground, and vice versa.. BUT, the pressure needed to get one of the rear wheel to lift up is different.. so when I drive, I have different degree of off-throttle oversteer.. on one side, it turns better, but on the other, it does not turn as well..

Very odd..

I re-checked the chassis and everything seems to be straight and all.. (using my caliper and measure, etc.) Pretty strange....

What shocks are you using right now? Have you checked to make sure that your rear shocks have the same amount of piston holes, and checked the same on the front? Are you sure the springs are all the same rate? If its none of those things then it sounds to me like the main problem is that the shocks are extended too far. What you may have to do is put some spacers inside of your shock bodies to set a static uptravel/ride height since your springs are the long ones. Until you get some short ones in. These are the springs I'm using currently, but they have them in different rates. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFAD8&P=7
. As for the pressure difference to the one side. That sounds like it has to be in the shock somehow. Something binding or dragging, maybe catching on the chassis somehow. I know there isn't a lot of space between the chassis and my shocks.

Hmm, no binding.. all shocks are built correctly (I think!) as they are not my first TRF shocks.. caliper was used to make sure all length are the same.. o-rings were used to limit the down travel..

I did not mean that it takes different pressure to push down the shock.. I meant, it takes different pressure to push down the shocks (front) in order for the rear opposite tires to move off the ground.. odd, isn't it? It is like the chassis is tweaked or something.. ha!

Here's some pics:

ODD.. ha!
