Default Titan 550 12T vs 23T in Rustler

Any advice about using a 14.4 volt Titan 550 23T or equivalent (single E-Maxx motor) in place of the 12T Titan 550 in a Rustler XL-5 running a single 6 to 8 cell IB3600 pack? I am not sure what advantage or disadvantage the lower voltage will create. If anyone has any advice on this or a simular situation please reply. I have already ordered motor but have not built the 8 cell pack yet as I will try a 7 cell unless damage to ESC may result.....

The 12cells titan 550 23t will be much faster. The titan 12t is not very fast at all.

The 12T will be faster since you are only going to be running 6-8 cells..

The titan 23t will be alot faster that the titan 12t. Ive tried both and the titan 23t dominates.

Are you sure you are comparing "same voltage" If so the 12 turn should be a lot faster.

No No No... Hes asking "What will be faster? The titan 12t on like 6-8cells or the titan 23t on 12cells.
The titan 23t will be insane on 12cells in a small 1/10 car/truck.

Might want to re-read the original poster's post... he will be running it 6-8 cells..

Oh! lol, srry I skim through alot of stuff here in the forums and this thread was one of them. I saw the 14.4v part and though hmm 12cells. I still say get the titan 23t because it will last much longer. The titan 12t you will notice will slowly die then will completely stop. I'd say you could get like 30 runs out of it though.

Thanks everyone for posts. I fried the 12T Titan in my Rustler using a 6 sometimes 7 cell pack. Without warning ..no overheating and suddenly a brush fell apart and the fan melted a little. I have ordered a 550 motor simular to the Titan E-Maxx motor, actually 2 of them. I am using stock XL-5 esc so 8 cell is max and I wasn't sure if i should go ahead and build the 8 cell pack or would it be a waste of time. I will wait to build it and see how it does on 7. I generally push 8.7 volts with the IB's. Anymore input on this will be apprecited. Smoke test to follow.

Sounds just like my experience. I bought the xl-5 bandit on a thursday then on saturday one of the brushes fell out.
Thankfully the shop I bought it from gave me a new Integy V11 12x2 motor free. Much faster, but I need to gear lower as its gets hot quick.

A 550 titan 21 turn is insane got it in my tb02 with an evx and 12 cells mannnnnn. Its faster in my on road than it is on my emaxx its scary to drive its like a v12 vs. v6 when you compare it to my 540

So i used to 6 cells and a 540

then now i run a 550 with 12 cells so fast its uncotrollable even on my onroad i go so fast it flips and it already has extra weight of 12 cells nimh check it out on my onroad form tb02 el diablo

Assuming you are running on 6 or 7 cells the 12T will be faster. If you run on 12 cells the 23T will be faster. I ditched the last titan I had for an S-600 from Great planes. Finally had a chance to run it last week. After running at least ten of my 8 cell batteries through it I have to say I’m seriously impressed. The motor is 550 sized so it fits right where the stock titan fits but has a ton more torque. I’m currently running a 54/16 (32 pitch, not the stock 48 pitch) The truck has a stock XL5 ESC and 5.5 tall Imex tires. Taking temp reading on a 90+ degree day the motor, ESC and batteries where all reasonably cool. The highest motor temp was 180, battery was 140 and the ESC was around 100. I actually think If I used a larger pinion the motor temps might come down a bit. Right now I’m spinning the motor pretty high. On a side note the truck is so much faster than the stock pede there is no comparison.
