Does the chassis extension help. What would I do to extend it?

I am thinking about getting this for my track. Not as a speed demon or good handler but as a stunt-ish truck. What do you think. I saw a review where a guy but a 600 motor,IB4200, and a 24t pinon and he said the speed doubled! He has a video http://myrcmt.com/review/wheely/

So I could either get this or a 1/8 buggy. I like driving in grass, but if I can get my stampede geared low enough it should be good.
