Default Discharger for six cell R/C car packs

This looks like nothing more than bulbs in series used to drain R/C car battery packs. Does anyone know if that is in fact the case?

From Tower

I am looking for a solution for discharging my 6-cell car packs down before charging them back up. Couldn't I make one myself with six (since I only have six cell packs) bulbs (12v??) in series and put my VOM in parallel and drain them down to the magic 1.1 volts per cell?

I seem to be forever the novice, please correct me and help me find my solution.

Thanks guys!

I'd have them in paralell for a bit quicker discharge, i've also seen resistors used with heatsinks, but the most fun way to discharge is just to keep running after the race that way the battery has no idea when the race is over and theres 0 chance of memory
it's all b0!!0Łk$ anyway
