RE: fastest brushless motor
3.5r Novak or 5700 Mamba on 3s li-po are probably the fastest 540 sized brushless with a practical number of cells and not something ridiculous like 16-20 cells.

Fastest would have been Nic Case's Neu, I think it was a Neu 1509 or a Neu 1110, unless something has beaten Nic's record.

RE: fastest brushless motor
in an emaxx your best bet is going to be an 8xl if you want reliability, or if you just want all out speed you can go with an 7xl.

im telling you a feigao is much better suited for the emaxx. 550 is barely big enough for a rustler, emaxx needs an XL can to run without overheating.

RE: fastest brushless motor
I personally would either go with an 8xl or 9xl to be safe.
Do you know what esc your going to use?
Batteries? what kind of batteries your using makes a huge difference on which motor you should choose

RE: fastest brushless motor
You can run Novak Velocity motors at 80k rpms because of the strong sintered rotors. If you run a 5.5r on 3s it will give you 82140rpms. That rpm limit is unloaded so as long as your pinion stay securely on the shaft and that your motor doesnt move away from the spur I think you'll have one helluva fast motor.

you can get an adapter to run 2 packs in series on the mamba max for about $11
it's a good esc for a monster truck

RE: fastest brushless motor
c'mon!!!!!
You need TORQUE, not speed! THAT is what will make your e-maxx fast. How about using this:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_25...tm.htm#2587132
and seeing what size pinion you'll need to use the 3.5r (i bet they don't make one)
